This is related to the post below. I am not sure if this is what you had in mind, but I have been involved in these before and this is how it was done for MP. I feel that MP is the best and the most challenging form of competition. With this the rankings really mean something and all is above board.

Everyone has their own favorite planes. So, make each plane a single catagory. Sign up for as many catagories as you like. Then start an everyday ladder challenge.

The two at challenge can either have a coaltitude air start or can begin at opposing airfields. When we did it, it was the best out of three or whatever was decided upfront.

In RB we had started at the same airfield, flew 180 deg away from each other climbing to the predecided altitude. Then the word was given and the duel would begin. The best out of 3 or 5 negates the one lucky shot and brings in more of a fair balance to the whole afair.

As an added benefit, one that I would enjoy, is that those there to watch will pick up some good key learnings from the best among us.

We did the same type mission in Air Warrior.
It was a lot of fun. we used four computers linked together. Speaker phone for voice
comm. Condor and I put the thing together
