COMING SOON TO A PLANE PACK NEAR YOU! Additional screenshots... New 3d damage model... When shot at, portions of the cowling tear away revealing the mighty Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine. Here is a small preview of just some of the damage effects... http://www.hauntkraft.com/damage_a.jpg Highly detailed cockpit... almost everything in the cockpit is modeled in 3D (optimized cockpit is also provided for those with slower machines). Here a few views from inside the cockpit... http://home.adelphia.net/~woodpanel/fgi/project_jug/p47_images/cockpit_1.jpg http://home.adelphia.net/~woodpanel/fgi/project_jug/p47_images/cockpit_2.jpg http://home.adelphia.net/~woodpanel/fgi/project_jug/p47_images/cockpit_3.jpg http://home.adelphia.net/~woodpanel/fgi/project_jug/p47_images/cockpit_4.jpg

Wow. You know, this might be the best WW2 fighter model EVER produced for a sim IMHO. The fact that it was built by (cough) "amateur" players and not professional programmers kind of boggles the mind, don't it ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Welll... there are some things in there that the pics don't show. Who'll be the first to discover? Are we going to do more? Yup. The bird's not finished yet. It'll take some time, though, so please bare with this mockup for now _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

Spanky,The damage models for all the parts have been added. As I'm sure you know, our first release did not have any visual damage modeling other than parts detaching. We have now added visible damage to all major plane parts. Even so, the damage models for most parts are not as involved or interesting as the cowling and engine damage models. There are some surprises.

Hey JTOn another point about the 47 that I've always forgot to ask about.. the main fuse, I think maybe the obhits are to high, I've exploded bombes under that baby while sitting on the runway.. everything comes off (wings etc) but the fuse hold together, is this something you've been looking at for the next version? Nat,Try this one. As usual with damage modeling it's difficult to find any data worth mentioning. If you find anything at all, it's just statistics based on educated guesses on average number of bullets hit in a burst, rounds fired in total, and number of aircraft downed. Says nothing at all about strong or weak points, so it's a guesswork. This one's a *lot* better than the previous for DMs, but I'd be extremely surprised if it's accurate. It's guesswork from beginning to end. _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

Bjorn-I dont believe Nat is questioning the data you have constructed your DM on. I believe he is like me and thinks the plane is a beauty but whenever you crash, get shot down or face structural damage all you see is the wings rip off. I would like to see the fueslage break up or in half or something. Just my .02 cents. ------------------

Holy Jug Bugs! That's incredible. How did you ever get a "real" jug into a virtual world? 'Cause that's what it looks like to me, a real plane, not a sim.------------------ goth =FC= IP: Logged |

I hope so because it took me hours of searching on the net to find those darn fonts! It's nice that someone took notice of them :-) Anyway, I sent you an email. Let me know if you want the fonts and I'll send them to you. They were free fonts, so I don't mind passing them around. jtrivelli@adelphia.net [This message has been edited by JT (edited 05-17-2000).] IP: Logged |

Speed, It will be released in the plane pack. After discussing the issue with William, I'm fairly certain I don't want to make it available as a separate download. [This message has been edited by JT (edited 05-18-2000).] IP: Logged |

Nat and others. Sorry, I seem to have a way of expressing myself when responding to these threads. The same thing happened last time. No, I didn't take your questions and suggestions as critique, at least not in a negative way. All I can say on this one, really, is that it's far better than the previous one. Far far far better. Still there are things that I'm not satisfied with. Some that I haven't had time to model and some that I've tried but failed. Please do inform me of things you think should be different, ideas for improvements and so on. I would appreciate it if I received any, since, as mentioned earlier, it's all just guesswork, and my guesses may be severely different from yours Also, there are things on the to-do list, lots of them. If I receive many wishes for something that's down low on my prio list, it may be done earlier, so let them wishes, thoughts, ideas, etc. come in. Laika... what are you talking about? It's your ideas and perfection that was the model to strive for. Well, not only yours to be honest, the WW-I community deserves unmeasurable kudos too. _ /Bjorn.
