I just read from our own old buddy Darren Evans that B-17 II was at the Hasbro booth at E3, on a single LITTLE CRAPPY 15" MONITOR W/ BUILT IN SPEAKERS while OTHER games of theirs - Frogger, Monopoly, X-COM, and other titles all had multiple monitors and/or machines for people to view. WHAT A CROCK!

Part of his post that really has gotten me wound up...

I am astonished at the lack of advertising and Hasbro's ho-hum neglectful attitude towards this great sim. Wayward is really getting the shaft on this. But, what does Hasbro care? This is their last and final flight sim. They have a 10 pound gold bar in their pocket and they don't even know it.
Darren Evans

He then goes on to say that they haven't even posted ANY info on the game on their pathetic website! And from what Dan "Crash" Crenshaw posted on the same SimHQ forum where I read Darren's post, he say's it's gonna rock! (That is if Hasbro doesn't F*CK it up like they did Gunship!)

So let's keep our fingers crossed. I would've posted this on the OT forum but Hasbro needs to have their head's examined for sitting on this soon to be crown jewel and I wanted everyone here to know it.

Perhaps they're being devious and they just want the competition to think that they're going to drop (or more accurately, throw away) the ball again so that when B17II comes out, it will strike a death blow on all the other sims.

No, I don't really think that's the case, any more than you do.

It's a shame when publishers act this way. Some may think it heretical for me to say this, but I've also been looking forward to B17II. I always look forward to a "good game" even if it's been done by so-called "competition".

Insane. And those guys are going to be looking back going.

Why did the sales on b17-2 suck so bad? we had a great game but no one wants it except some hard core flight simmers?

Some publishing company, How much money would it have been to have a full scale ww2 b 17 2 cockpit with huge monitors stuffed in the windows with the controls hooked up to B17-2

Now THAT would have been cool.

NA we will just slap it on a compaq presiarrio.

Who ever made that decision is a DUMBASS < Red Forman

Gus, lets face it.. being realistic sims are dead money to publishers, no one buys them (comparative to shoot em ups etc) I reckon they just want it off their hands asap cause the more money they stick into it, the less they'll get back. Us Sim flyers are a very small minority when it comes to game users, and we get shafted for it.. thats just the way business works and we gotta get used to the idea I guess.. aint gonna change

... Longbow 2 sure didn't sell did it?...
... Falcon 4 sure didn't sell did it?...

The old "If it's hardcore, It aint going to sell" has been used and used to death.

If you build it, and build it good, people will buy it, unless they've never heard of it... say... you hide it at one of the biggest games show on a tiny 15" monitor... They probably removed the display by the third day so they could shovel in a few more booth bunnies. bleh.

And even more important, if a "Hard Core" sim has settings that will help first time or new users, then even more will be grabbed up and the flight sim market gets even more people. I think that many games, especially ones that have anything politically incorrect are going to be the next big media target.... WW2 games and First Person Shooters especially.
This is sad to see with so many people that can not just benifit from a good historical game, but more important are the ones that teach history while entertaining, that way we don't forget what happened and what the sacrifices were about.

Gentlemen,
I to was at E3. Its possible I may have overlooked something, but I was only able to find 2 flight sims in the entire place! CFS2 didn't look any different then the original. Aside from the fact it was over lots of water. (Pacific Campaign) Sturmovik L2 however looked very promising, and felt good.
To add to the bad news, the Thrustmaster booth had no high end HOTAS setups! Only the topgun stick was there. They had the place full of sexy scantily clad women. I guess this was supposed to distract us from noticing the lack of sticks. Nascar 4 was the best thing I saw.

Regards,
Crank
