I,ve noticed, from watching ALOT of WW2 combat camera footage, that when WW2 era aircraft take many hits in the wings (usually accompanied by a small explosion-ammunition?) the landing gear for the damaged wing lowers involuntarily. Could this be modelled. It would look very realistic. Just a thought IP: Logged |

The reason it lowered is because something broke the hydraulic line. This let the pressure bleed out and the gear lowered (don't know if it was done that way as a safety device or not...). Have read stories of fighter filots that this happened to. While they didnt do anything about it in combat, they had to continuously pump up the gear by hand (to reduce air drag) so they could make it back to base. I'm not sure but I think you just threw down the gauntlet to somone (not me). Yes, this would be cool to have modeled. (Ohhhhh jeeeedddddiiiii......) Ever see any footage of a PBY? How did they come apart? (No, the movie Tora Tora Tora doesnt count as an example...) ------------------ Snickers =FC=

Unfortunatly we can't call DOF´s by hit detection (start them when dmg=x). I hope I´m wrong IP: Logged |

Can we call a DOF on an obDetach? I haven't gotten into working with DOF's yet so I dont know. OR, use obModel to replace the existing one....------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Nobody that I know has figured out a way to activate a DOF on x damage or obdetach. Quite a pity, as that would be a very cool feature to add. Another would be causing the pilot to slump over when he's killed.charm IP: Logged |

Actually charm--I believe Raider and Zoy were working on a slumped injured/dead pilot for the DVII. They'll correct me if I'm wrong! ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

Sorry Snickers, I don't have anything of a PBY. I think that would be rare indeed IP: Logged |

Burkey,I don't claim to know it all about open plane, but believe me, when it comes to DM experimentation, I've done a lot, and that is definitely one of the things I've spent an awful lot of time on for nought. It may be possible through some mechanism that no one has yet found out, but it seems rather unlikely, I'm afraid. _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

Pity, bjorn, but as you say, I'm sure you'd have managed it by now. Ah well....IP: Logged |

Burkey - RE: PBY.... I do (well, to be honest Team PBY does....) The slicing and dicing part is done, now I am putting back together. We may be getting a different physical model though (no offense to Pete). Time will tell. If we do that means I get to slice and dice it again but at least I will have done it once before.... ------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

OK, just so I can show how much I *don't* know, how about this....Make the lod such that it traverses both up and down in one cycle. When it is up, move a piece in the way such that it can't move back down. To lower the gear normally, move the piece out of the way. To cause the effect requested, destroy the piece. At that point in time the gear should be free to come down independantly. ------------------ Snickers =FC=

charm, Jeeves, This is what stoped us. We had the dof to make the pilot lower his head and slump over, but could not call it from a dof. It does look cool though. ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site

Nope, I don't think anyone can say for sure that it can or cannot be done. If it can be done, it'll be through some yet unheard of trickery, though.Has anyone tried functions for DOFs? DOF replacement as part of model replacement? _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

I don't know if this is a help or not, but already when playing online, if you get hit in the wing a decent bit you will lose your wheel and gear, or at least your wheel, so when you land it's kind of tricky.Didn't know if this would help. Mk10=225th= IP: Logged |
