Yes, I've finally got this thing finished!! Thanks to the texturing tutorial posted by Dan in the Tech forum, and a brain wave with the gun problems, this Babe is finished!!

9 18 inch Guns
12 6 inch guns
8 28mm Flak
10 28mm AA
4 13mm AA

and a deck so big you could land on it (not advised )

It's posted up in my Ground Units section (link at the bottom)

Now onto the pics

Nat, what's the yellow-green deck? I know a lot of ships of the time had teak decks (USS Missouri for example) but that would be brown.

Nat,

I appreciate all your work on the Yamato, and I think just having it to the point that it is realistic now is a good accomplishment.
Thanks man, can I D/L it??? (where)

HI!
very nice job..thx nat! ehm..has any1 considered creating bismarck or even tanker used in ww2?
is there any pacific terain with "water" and not just textured terain ?
Could some1 create a terrain of New Guinei (damn..forgot the spelling..but i can spell like we do here in slovenia- joke or Papua. This terain would kick ass..cause it has mountains (4500m high), lot's of sea and so..and also many missions are possible (realistic or not; by realistic i mean mission flewn by saburo sakai)
if any1 read the book written from ww2 japanase ace Saburo Sakai:flying samurai! should know of what terrain i'm talking about and in his book he describes many missions over this land! but..we would need also a p-39 aircobra, b26 and b25, and also japan "betty" (mitsubishi type 1). Now that we have jamato, akagi (there were more aircraft carriers actually - akagi, hiriu, shokaku, zuikaku, kaga and soriu (the ones that "participated" attack on pearl harbor)) and zero, we could really make some nice missions.
well..i hope i wasn't to long..that's are just my thoughts but that terrain would kick some ass!
btw:i've read that book for 5 times now and i advise it to any1 who's interested in ww2 and props !

Psi, follow the link to my site, it's in the Ground Units section.. did I forget to mention that part.. lol

The tarrain it's sitting on is my Beta tarrain for the Pacific, flat flat abd flat, oh with lots of water and an Island + Airstrip. It's nothing speacial, the one myself and Diego Lozano are working on will by the good one.. Midway region, there aint many islands though, so we'll hopefully find a way to have a fixed Akagi on the terrain if we can get it to work as a usable airstrip.. I aint sure on how to go about this one though... so we'll see.

I guess that I should make my mountains smaller though if you think 4500m is high.. LOL j/k the Volcano is just over 10,000 ft

Glad you guys like it anyways.. specially for how long it took.. I'd love to add more detail.. but a FR compromise has to be done somewhere.. and the detial is it.

The pic you have above shows 2 launchers. I can't find a Japanese ship link I had with lots of statistics of battleships, but if I remember correctly the Yamato could carry 7 or 8 observation aircraft.

Thanks Guys.

Given that it had launchers and I haven't added any, I might well update it in the very near future so there's atleast an aircraft sta on a launcher even if it's not usable, it shouldn't be hard to do I think.

Just d/l'd it and created a test mission. I cant get near it! So I jumped into one of the gun positions using F7 then F6. I blasted everything in site to include the Zeroes and the Akizuki!!

I cant jump into the positions, would someone tell me how this is done? I installed it to the Vehicles folder, opened up a mission, added it as a ground object with no objectives. Should I do something else?

Argon, should just be a case of using F5 to switch to the ship, and then F6 to take control of the first position, F7 to change.

You might need to enable "Take control of any vehicle" though

Here's a link for another page on Yamato specs:
http://www.warships1.com/JAPbb08_Yamato_specs.htm

According to this page, a max of 4 planes was carried (Petes and Jakes). 2 catapult launchers.

for ease of adding, I've dropped 2 crossed launchers to the rear, and wanted to add a bi plane to sit on it, but it kept on crashin no matter how much of the aircraft or it properties I ripped out, so if anyone has the shell of any Bi Plane, could you let me know or mail it over, U just want to place it on the back on one of the launchers.. looked great with the Bristol F2B sat there

Nat, you've done a great work, since d/l i only play missions against Yamato.
Only a problem for me: like Argon, i can't enter the ship and control the cannons. By pressing F5, i cycle through all aircrafts (even enemy ones) but the ship is ignored. I also tried with F6, F7, F8. What could be due to?
Anyway, thank you for the unit!

Enrico

Make sure you have take over any vehicle selected in SDOE. If you don't have that you won't have the ability to take over the Guns on the Yamaoto.

I have a question. Everytime I add the Yamamoto to my mission it turns the other ships into the Yamamoto also, and they are stacked ontop of one another. I know we have a solution to this, but I confess I have forgotten it.

Thanks

Private Roger,
the translaction from my SDOE General Options panel tells "Control any AIRCRAFT", and is checked (and I can take control of enemy a/c indeed).
Is there any other controllable vehicle that I can test?

OK, try any of the ground units on my site, Akizuki, Howitzer, tank etc. Also the new Akagi done by Mposis has guns you can control.

Try using SDOE Control, Spyder has a new version out, but if you can'y find the link, the one in my downloads section will let you activate it aswell.. it is a weird problem though.

The one with the ships being wrong and or on top of each other, I don't know the fix, I had it once or twice but only when I placed them too close together, if there is a true "fix" for it I'd like to know it though!

Thank you Nat, I'll try all you said now.
About doubled ships, the problem was (at least in my computer) due to an error by Mission Editor, in fact if you check the ship icons, you'll find that there are two of them superimposed.
Thanks again

Nat, now i can control cannons and AA, and at 4,00 a.m. I am enjoing your work so much!
My best compliments!
I dunno if it is possible: it would be cool if the big cannons shells are explosive and with no limit to the distance they can attain. I imagine battles from far away, and bombing airfields etc...

I can't honestly say if it affects the guns, but all the correct gun ranges have been entered for each type of gun, the range for the 18" guns is 45,960 yards.. but the seem to vanish well before that, I've never found one come down when I've fired long range at a target

LOL.. You know the d/l will be around 10mb or so.. I'll finish off the beta I keep using and get it posted till we get the Pac terrain Diego (texturing) and I (modeling) are working on.

Excuse any little glitches in tiles matching up where I've altered terrain shape etc.. but it is only a beta that I use for working/practicing on after all..
