Nice work guys!I just DL'd the new planes and noticed that the Go229's NLG Door still had a shading problem. I took it into Max, fixed it, reimported it into the SM file and now it's good to go. I sent the file back to Panzer and RT and hopefully they'll incorporate it into the new Zip. No more flashy black gear door. (That bothered me for a long time but I just realized I could fix it now). Panzer and Roadtoad... I love you guys!! I just watched a program on the History channel last night called "Secret Lufwaffe Aircraft of the Second World War" Pretty interesting that a Ho bomber was on the drawing board, with the capability to reach New York and get back. The air-to-air missiles on the Ta 183 and the VTOL-type craft in development were also very interesting. Now for the download! ------------------ -=TheReaper=-

Forgot to put these flying docs in HE162.ZIP HE162 SALAMANDER FROM PANZERS AND ROADTOADS FLIGHT SHOP OR ROADTOAD AND PANZERS FLIGHT SHOP
WARNING This aircraft performs as prototype, or production model did, i have built an FM that is close to original but have also added more flyability with slightly larger wings and slightly better control. BUT BE AWARE OF THE FACT THAT THIS AIRCRAFT IS A HANDFULL, IT WAS THE SAME FOR THE GERMAN PILOTS WHO FLEW THE HE162 MANY OF WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN CONVERTING TO THE HE162. You can fly a He162 in CFS and SWOTL but these models fly just like any aircraft which means incorrect FMs. Built into model is a far forward CG making model slightly nose heavy this is caused by extra weight bolted into nose cone to give more lateral control and extra slopping wing tips to compensate for vertical problems. If you take time to master the He162, because she can be mastered you will perhaps relive a few desparate hours that those German pilots must have gone through flying the He162. TAKE OFFS Trim in up elevator four ar five presses on up key should be enough, release brakes, start engine advance throttle she holds on the runway well so you wont have to steer to much. My favorite way of taking off is full throttle until i am about halfway along runway then i start to pull up she lifts off great. when in air get that gear up it causes quite a drag and nose will drop. Once in air trim down on elevator and try her out smooth on controls no jerky movements. Another method of take off is to put in half flaps when you are halfway along runway no more than half flaps are needed or should be used. Then lift her off pull up flaps and undercarriage quickly as they cause quite a drag and nose will drop sharply, then trim down with elevators and try her out with smooth movements on stick. IN THE AIR Controls in the air must be smooth, she swings left and right okay. She climbs okay and dives okay be ready with ailerons when climbing and diving she likes to tip over if movement is to quick. She can go into a spin just reduce throttle and give opposite aileron to spin push nose down you can pull her out okay. LANDING
When landing dont drop under 170kph half flap no more please nose will drop trim in up elevator until nose lifts, down with undercarriage more up will be needed, slowly sink towards runway she glides great so dont overshoot that runway. Touch down with an air speed just over 170kph, it can be done but needs training, and dont forget brakes once your down.
Hope these tips help. AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT HE162 SALAMANDER THE ACTUAL NAME WAS HE162 SPATZ OR SPARROW AND NOT SALAMANDER WHICH WAS JUST THE CODE NAME FOR THE WINGS. PANZER AND ROADTOAD MAY 2000
TO INSTALL HE162. ZIP OPEN SDOE DIR. AND UNZIP ALL FILES WILL BE PLACED IN RIGHT DIRECTORYS. THEN TAKE HER UP
Might help you if your having trouble with her.

Took the 299 out for a spin last night. You can just about call this puppy done.... Got it up to 23000'. The reason I say almost, is that the contrails start in front of the engines.... Its fantastic. Had it up high and ran out of fuel. Tried gliding back to base (almost made it, I crashed within sight of the end of the runway....) Anybody wants to claim that this is a lawn dart, put them in a B17 and me in the 229 and we will see who makes the first hole in the ground...The Ho on the drawing board was the XVIII. (Actually it got past the drawing board. The contract was let to Messerschmidt. The first thing their designers wanted to do was put a vertical stabilizer on it. The Horten bros. said no and had the contract pulled. Otherwise, who knows.... ------------------ Snickers =FC=

Thanks for these planes. I posted a request for these earlier not knowing that your work was almost done! (Jerry - it takes a four legged pilot to fly one of these! )IP: Logged |

I have a fixed pilot for anyone that wants it. What I did is add a function that would hide the extra pilot (the sitting one) when you bail. It's still the same pilot (the fixed 162 pilot), so the legs don't stick through the bottom either. http://www.cs.odu.edu/~ccrambli/sdoe/SWpilotSit.zip Just put the SM files in the right directories- GopilotSit in Media\Aircraft\Go229 and HepilotSit in Media\Aircraft\Heinkel162 and answer Yes when asked whether to overwrite existing files. Panzer/Roadtoad, if you want me to take this down, just let me know and it will be done ASAP. Still haven't got around to flying these babies... been sick and I just moved to another state but I guess I better plug my joystick in and get flyin'! ------------------ -=TheReaper=- [This message has been edited by ReaperMan (edited 05-09-2000).] IP: Logged |

Panzer and RT,Did you guys get that updated SM file I sent you both? I was hoping to here from at least one of you by now, but nothing yet. Again, it fixes the nose gear forward door's shading problem. IP: Logged |
