Yea buddy!
Im going to an airshow tomorrow in Georgetown, Tx. Its about a hundred miles northwest of me. Its not as big as the Wings Over Houston Airshow that I go to every year but its a nice one. And its intiment enough that you can get your hands on the planes and talk to the pilots and hopefully some of the Vets. Houstons about a hundred miles south of me. Hell in Texas, everything is a hundred miles from you, hehe.
These are the only two I can make every year and Im pumped about it! I called and they already have Bombers on the ground. The woman couldn't tell what kind, go figure.
But Im there baby, with camera around neck, and camcorder and mug in hand, and lawn chair under tail!
The Tora, Tora group is doing a demo, (I know a couple of the pilots that are based in Houston), then the trainers, Biplanes, an F-16 demonstration and then , finaly the Warbirds!
There is usually a nice compliment of Warbirds on hand.
Sorry about rambling but I just had to share.

Ill give a report and post sime pics ASAP next week.

Airshow also in southern CA (March AFB). T'Birds will be there. Since we are so close to Chino, Palm Springs and San Diego I expect that there will be warbirds there as well. Going with camera and tape measurer in hand.

Snick,

I'd surely be there if I wasn't moving this week and next. I'm bummed. Gotta miss that AND E3!! It would have been cool to hook up with you. 2001 will be my year for that stuff as a new Southern Cal resident. Looking forward to your pics as well as Gunners.

The weather was not condusive to a good show.
Wind at 20-25mph and HOT!
The planes were nice but due to the weather, not as many showed up as planned. And not as many flew due to the wind. But still, all in all, I had a good time and got some great video. A few pics as well.
The F-16 demo was awesome! And the F4F Wildcat pilot really rung that baby out. The AT6 group did some formation flying that was very well done considering the conditions.
Several other acts as well.
Hopefully more planes and better weather next year.
Pics soon.

Lucky bastard. There are never, absolutely never airshows in Norway, (something like once every fifth year) but there are two 'plane collections' as the officials call it here in Norway. One's in northern Norway, and one at the new Gardermoen airport, about 35 miles north of Oslo. It has not opened yet, but I managed to sneak inside. That collection includes the world's last remaining German-built He-111. The guy who showed us round asked me what kind of engines the '111 was powered by, and where you entered it. I answered Junkers Jumo and under the center gondola, and he was so impressed that he gave me the keys for the Heinkel. Me lucky bastard. Inside the only remaining German 111. I was completely wild. I even snatched a few interior and exterior pics, for the He-111 builders among us. If you want them, I can dig them up and post them.
