Ok, I bet a few of you are wondering why isn't this in the Tech Support or Help/FAQ, well its because not many people seem to give a rats ass about those sections. Anywho, I have a texture that I am putting on the Hannovers fuse, but at first it was (for some reason) transparent, I checked the color that I used for my texture in AC3D, but it was at Zero. So I created a newer even beter skin, I put it in the texture folder, changed the asc. file, and, well... I'm not an idiot so I'll just say I did everything right, well... mostly, if I did everything right it would be working, but something went wrong, and the skin is transparent, the new skin shows up in OPS but not in the game. I tried opening a different plane, then going to the Hannover, but no go. So, any ideas? ------------------ Sleek design, thats all I care about. IP: Logged |

Sebulba!I too had problems with textures that looked OK in OPS but were transparent/strange colours in SDOE. I had to change "size", "flags" and "distance" in the asc. file to correct it. Was that what you changed too? If not, try setting those values to: SIZE: your .tifs pixel size (256x256?) FLAGS: 802223 DISTANCE: 0.000000000 I´m not sure what "flags" and "distance" means but they had strange values after I used a new texture. I looked at a "healthy" .asc file and copied the values from them. I´m no expert at this but it worked for me, so if you haven´t tried it, do. Hope that helps /Robert IP: Logged |

Distance is always 0 I think...The flags are VERY important. My site tells you what flags do what, but the 802223 flag is for normal stuff, I think 802243 means to use an alpha-texture (transparent). What do you mean by "transparent?" Can you see it at all? What if you try a texure index of 0 once and choose white, can you see it it the game now without a texture? Also try a 246x256 solid red square tif once as a texure file, does this work at all? Comparing the LOD files may help you find out what is wrong... becuase you can see it fine in OPS but not the game it sounds like a flags issue... but I am just guessing.

Make sure you set the "shininess" value in AC3D to the correct number for the texture you're mapping to. Also, don't pick a "dark" color to shade the part with. I use white for outer surfaces (edit the white color's shininess to "1" if your skin is texture index #1) and then "paint" the parts white. If your fuselage is, say, red, and you use the red color with the texture mapped, it will appear to be "semi-transparent." If you use white or light gray, the texture will show up (no other colors to fight with). Learned that one the hard way...
