After some posts and readings in the Il-2 Sturmovik forum I think I will leave (as a modeller) the SDOE comunity when Il-2 is out. I will "finish" my part of the work on the Peshka and when time is left I will release an other side project. I like the work with OPS much, also FM/DM'ing is fun. But without a change in the code some things are simply impossible to do. When Il-2 is out and SDOE is still un- or halfpatched and full of bugs and SOS is not out I´ll leave you, of course I will use SDOE and OPS and all the good stuff that others had done (will do). But I won't modell any new aircraft or vehicle for SDOE. It seems that Oleg Maddox and his team give more support to modellers of aircraft and users of their game than parsoft/activision gives to us (except MH´s work). Anyway cant wait for Il-2, hoping that it will be better than SDOE is now. Enough said, Peshka is in the hangar waiting for me LK 801 IP: Logged |

FPS rate abou 23-26 with 450 Mhz and TNT2 ! They will release software for plane building (?) and mission building. Release is October 2000. Isn´t that great ? IP: Logged |

Read this for the Multiplay features planned for Il-2: http://www.dogfighter.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000019.html Here is a wireframe pic of the Il-2. I think it shows highest detail, might be interesting for the modellers out here: http://www.dogfighter.com/images/interviews/il2/il2wireframe.jpg Sounds: http://www.dogfighter.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000036.html Please don´t kill me for posting all that stuff in here, but I think most of you will like Il-2 when it is done ! I will buy it as soon us the modelling program for it is available and I am able to put static models in the game. Maybe that will be more than a year from now.[This message has been edited by mposis (edited 05-02-2000).] IP: Logged |

Yeah, it looks like it might be a nice game when it comes out. In Six Months!Of course the virtual runways are littered with games that had great promise, then failed to deliver. Got my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath. Six months is to long for me to hold that. PR=FC= IP: Logged |

How are they approaching the physic modeling ,flight modeling and damage modeling? The art looks real good in all those pics.It has always seemed to me that, while professional, the art in SDOE is not largly inspiring. The new skins have added allot IMO. It looks like they are doing allot with photo-realism and art touches that make the light dance, etc. The terrain is loking real neat... ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Bonjour ! Well... Objectively, we can't blame you, Il-2 seems to be the sim that we have always waiting for, if it looks really what it will be really... Personally, I dive into the WWII simulators from a short time: being disappointed by CFS, I came to SDOE, being sure it was the ultimate sim, after what I saw the Maddox's game a couple of weeks ago, the question is on air one more time. However, if SDOE doesn't stay in top position, it should be just behind the number one if there is a number one above SDOE... Anyway, Laika801, you made a great job for the SDOE's fans and I guess you will increase its quality within IL-2.------------------ Bonne chance et bon vol ! To me IL-2 looks to have the promise to fulfil the potential that SDOE never did. It is such a shame that such a great sim has failed to really deliver. But saying that I have got my money's worth a 100 times over.I am looking forward to both IL-2 and B17-II and if both deliver I will be ecstatic. In the mean time I'm head down plowing through Comanche/Hokum (48 hours real time into the Taiwan campaign) and loving every minute of it. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

Ok, here we go again. Another grand exit. I assume that these people think that without informing us of thier leaving, we would be searching the site for thier input. I think not! If you must leave, do it without fanfare! And with what is turning into a mass withdrawl from the game due to "all its flaws", would the last person out please turn off the lights? PROPWASH ! I assume you didn´t read my post before you start this nice stinky flame on me. Maybe I should mark important sentences in the future ? OK:PROPWASH ! I assume you dont like my input ? ("I assume that these people think that without informing us of thier leaving, we would be searching the site for thier input. I think not!") My input is not worth reading and only crap ? I think not ! But if you dont like my input just skip my topics ! PROPWASH ! My only intention was to tell the comunity my future plans, I did not ask for posts like "OH I´m so sorry you´re leaving sweet pXssy LK" Of course I´m not scared about such posts cause it shows that some people like my work. PROPWASH ! I wrote "October 2000". Now it's may right ? You dont want to see the Peshka in SDOE ? Should I stop working on it ? I think not ! Some people might like that plane. PROPWASH ! What did YOU give to SDOE ? Good inputs ? Maybe I dont miss your input if you leave before me PROPWASH ! Enough said ! We could discuss things like "Did SDOE rules or not" etc. Pffff - I´m too lazy for such discussions. Tell me when I misunderstood you ! I´ll not waste my time in the "Flame Wars" area cause the Pe2 needs some work. OK Sweetheart ? LK 801 (still here) PS: PROPWASH ! I'm a little pushed for time right now, so I've not read through all the links up there, but please correct me if I'm wrong, the last time I spoke with Oleg, player addons were not going to be allowed in Il-2, they were going to allow people to mail them aircraft models now for them to put in the game for you, but when the game is released, there would not be a way to add your own aircraft and ground units as we do now with SDOE, so to my mind, although it's sounding like it should be a very good Sim, it's not going to be the builders/tinkerers paradise that SDOE is.I may be wrong cause I haven't read their forum for about a week, but he seemed quiet adamant that player addons will not a part of Il-2. ~Nat~ [This message has been edited by Nat (edited 05-02-2000).] IP: Logged |

Make the plane, don't make the plane, I could give a rats ass. Half the original planes that came with the game have been rendered almost unflyable. The P-51, and Fw190 for example. Both use to be well manored aircraft. And no,like 90% of the community I havn't contributed jack!! But as reader of this forum and a few others I have found that only here do people feel the need to anounce thier exit. And some in a pissed off manor.I just wish to get the point across that its an un-needed practice. So please knock it off. Prop out!

Nat - you might be right with this, but I´m not sure. One good thing - all planes would behave like they should (from the view of Oleg and his team, and I think they got the best material for soviet planes, and they are "open" for infos from the outside (us))and this is a problem with our planes now, cause they´re not "standard" in any way (different DM, plane-bugs etc.) Anyway it´s a long time till October (and maybe Il-2 takes longer). Alot of things can change (in/with SDOE and Il-2) in this time. To clear it up: I never thought about quiting SDOE at all, I´ll just stop to make planes for any online standard/planepack . Maybe it was wrong to tell this here and now. fanfare Uhh ahh - I´m tired - it was a hard day - last thing I can say -> patch it ! SOS ! fanfare

Prop, most prople on this forum aren't rude, you are. Why? Most prople on this forum don't make planes, and most that do don't make them anywhere near as well as Laika do, so unlike most people, his contributions will indeed be missed.Laike, Oleg mentioned somewhere that the spects for making planes in Il-2 won't be public to avoid people making weird fantacy planes, but by the sound of it, the workings of Il-2 will be in many ways similar to that of SDOE, and that people who are proven good plane makers might be given the specs for how to. I hope you'll be one of them. _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Guys. If you read it Oleg said he WOULD let outside people make the models and cockpits for aircraft they would like to see put in the game AND maddox games would finish them off with DM and FM. that would keep all planes balenced. IL-2 won't be another SDOE. (thank god) but this will get more planes in the games faster then if the company did all the work by themselves. The next game like SDOE would probly be SDOE2 IF it ever comes out and its not crap [This message has been edited by Spanky the Mad Dog (edited 05-02-2000).] IP: Logged |

It don't matter to backwash he did it once (chicken shit) opp'ed out and probably expected the community to rally round him. But they didn't, and I say to Laika, with a handshake thanks and I also feel that I'm in need of "new horizons" Its not saying good bye to FS it only means its almost summer and I got a million things that I want to do. Therefore I don't have time like I have in the winter. I love this game and to me it will always be the best sim I've ever had the fun, frustration, and freedom to own. Most of the guys and gals I have had the honor of meeting here I really like. And their work was accomplished with tireless effort. And I really do thank them for that, but for shit like you pissdouche you've have never said a thing that I would consider intelligent. So as J Leno would say SHUDDUP! PsiIP: Logged |

Whizzers guys, actually, for once, Prop seems to be stating opinions on things as he sees them, instead of randomly attacking people personally by name, and taunting specific individuals with profanity and unintelligible verbage. He still voices it in an offensive, provocative way, making one wonder if his intent is to simply state his case, or to provoke hostile rebuttal, but it's probably his best string of posts yet. Of course that's kind of like saying a bullet through the back of the head is an improvement over freezing to death though, but what the hell. This is not a defense, but rather an observation. I think more respected "Lords of The SDOE Community" have voiced disapproval over people giving long goodbyes in the past. Their comments seemed warmly received by other respected "Lords of The SDOE Community," but then they were not openly hated and despised like Propwash, and of course additionally to be considered, is that if you really read Laika's first post that started all this, it wasn't really a good-bye at all. Also additionally, and possibly unfortunately for some, Pang is probably right. The '51, much to everyone's chagrin, really doesn't stall as readily as it would in "Real Life" (whatever that means after living in the virtual world that we do), especially in regard to stalls caused by excessive pulling back on the stick. I don't think this is that much of a big deal though, when you take into consideration that it is rather finicky in a prolonged break turn at low alt and low speed, and all the other factors that make it fun to fly online in SDOE. We won't talk about how flying online is getting harder and harder to do in general right now though. Honest we won't. I think this thread, and the reaction to Prop's posts, are probably an indication that we are just a teeny bit on edge, and prone to attack like a cornered cat at the slightest provacation. Incessant waiting for mythical fixes, continued DT's, constantly adapting to changing FM's, and people's rudeness both in this forum, and in the form of lack of understanding online has caused us all to be a bit twitchy with our gun hands. I promised myself I was going to stop reading and posting in the Forum, but God help me, I can't seem to stop. It's kind of like being in love with a woman who gives you herion each time you have sex. And I did stop posting for a while. I didn't give a goodbye, but believe me, I would now! You betcha! Why? Because no one seemed to care I was spending sleepless nights, tossing and turning, with only the dreams of my two real loves in life to keep me sane. The dream of someday becoming that guy in the booth at the entrance to the Sanitary Land Fill, or basking in the limelight of being an Internationally Renowned Hairdresser. Uh-oh. The charming young men in the White Coats are coming down the hall for me. Better sign off. Hey! Get your hands off me! AAAAAaaaaaaah! Mk10=225th= IP: Logged |
