This whole thing about who has the best sim is aggravating me to no end. Imho there are better sims out there today than SDOE. Who cares which is the best because like processors no sim has a very long life and to that I say thank God! I hope SDOE's demise is quick and painless because that means something better has arrived. IP: Logged |

Hehehehe, what's bugging me is why no body see's any other sim as worthy other than the one they happen to get caught up in. By the way for the most part I have gone to play better sims but I thought my buddies might still like to see me around. There are lot of good sims out there some better some not as good as SDOE. I don't need to name them because it's a personal thing anyway. The point is I appose bigotry of any kind and that is what the SDOE "rules" mind set reminds me of, bigotry (of cource there is the WB, AH, EAW etc etc bigots too lol) . And don't be bitching about pay to play thing because if it your time is as valuable as it should be to you, two or four or what ever dollars an hour is a pretty small price to pay for something you like when you consider people are paying $40 for a round of golf. The other thing is player made addons, who cares if not one of the new fm's is remotely useful in creating missions that have been made impossible by the other bugs. While you are consider your insults remember you will be attacking the idiot that waited months for a patch that was never going to happen.

Spanky here.. Bomb. we could sit here throw all kinds of stuff back and forth that i could be doing with my time and money But ya know what? I don't have any money NONE i'm not even sure if i will be on the net next month So where would i be getting this 2 or 4 an hour? I can Play SDOE right now for free. If I could afford to be out playing golf I might be out there. I'm not saying its the only game in town. I'm saying its the only game that I like. I find all the others are lacking and thin. SDOE holds a special place in my mind. I don't think I will ever find a better sim than it. Think it'll be in my mind forever. Like when I'm old, I'll tell my grandkids about that great little flight sim. Maybe dig my old computer out of the cellar, crank it up and show it to them. They'll start laughing because the graphics are so poor (in 50 years time) and my computer is so slow. Never mind! That day, I'll probably start weeping. Fond memories of a great sim, all the addons, and the online community.IP: Logged |

All flightsims should be worshipped. They are a dying breed and need all the help they can get. Support flightsims.Personally, I think EAW is the best WWII sim. Yet, I spend more time tinkering with SDOE than any other sim. I used to mess with CFS for a little while, till EAW came out. I still get shitty frame rates with WWII Fighters. Its the least played sim I have. But, I bought them all and support them all. I also have Falcon 4, Flanker 2, Jane's F18 (I skip any DI, iMagic, Novalogic products), Mig Alley, Hornet Korea, Janes F15...blah blah blah. I even have FU 3, Fly! and Bill Gates 2000/98. Support all sims!! I will also get B17II and IL2 as well. Support all sims. Arguments about sim x vs. sim y are meaningless. I mean, I'll trade you OpenPlane for a sun, twilight effects and a dynamic (or believe its dynamic) campaign. Or, I'll trade all of this for the ability to build any airplane I want..ie OpenPlane. Arguments can go both ways. Some people live and die by multiplay. Others, like myself, only use their ISP for porn and email. Online is meaningless. You take the good with the bad. Support all sims. SPanky here.. I just never got into EAW. The # of planes was cool but thats all I saw that I liked. Not bashing it though. It must have its good points. The DM and graphics grabbed me with SDOE. and the rest grew on me. BTW y do you like online man? I dont mean SDOE online but any game?

In my opinion, WWII Fighters is the god of WWII flight sims graphic, sound, and and gun realism wise. Combatflight Sim is the best sim upgradeability wise. SDOE is the best sim upgradeability wise that has the the better graphics. EAW is just plane fun cause of all the planes you can have in the air, also has good graphics. Warbirds is the best sim online. Aces Over Europe is a beginer hackars delight, Luftwaffe commander has a good campaign but the graphics arent good and the effects and sound sux. I have yet to get Nations. Fighter Duel was a little fun for a short time. 1942 Pacific Air War was spiffy back then. Aces of the Pacific had great game play. I didnt like Air Warrior I II or III at all. Chuck Yeagers sucked. SWOLT holds a place in my heart (you can still find it on my harddrive) The Battle of Britian one Lucas Arts put out in like 89-90? was fun as hell. I think thats all the WWII flight sims ive played. aces over europe! i got the collectors edition of that a loooong time ago. around the time I was playing doom2 alot. anyways about sdoe, most would have guessed it would have fizzled out in the few months after it was released, but that wasnt the case. Like someone else said the game grows on you and keeps you coming back, thats what makes it unique from the other flight sims. I thought WWII fighters was the best thing ever, I played it way more than sdoe at the time but eventually it wore off and I was back to sdoe and now its the only sim i play. Also sdoe's community is small, it detracts away all the lamers and flamers which also makes you want to keep playing. Plus i found out about this game way to early, waited years for it, Im making up for lost time enough rambling.... the sdoe in my opinion is the best sim. IP: Logged |

And to think I was sure I was going to get flamed. Thanks for the feed back I feel better already.I still want the patch so I guess I have a soft spot for SDOE too lol. I really don't think the patch to fix the bomb bug and ground object bug is ever coming now. When I had hope I must have made a hundred missions hoping that someday they would play the way I wanted them to. I guess dreams can be better than reality. I hear ya bomber. A patch would be a huge lift, the missions would really shine if they could work as they should, bomb bug, ground object bug etc.
As it is, it's a great fighter vs fighter sim, but only that.------------------

Spanky can you get free access. In Australia s@#tloads of places are offering free access. (we are still using modems- cable is just and finally being introduced)
America Online is also offering similar access. You have an add always on screen, but it is possible to get rid of it.
