everyone for all the positive comments about the DVII. While disappointed that it did not win anything, your comments have helped to keep me motivated. Thank You.

Well I spent this morning flying a T-6 Texan so I can make better planes. Now I have an even greater respect for the guys that have worked so hard on the FM's in SDOE. They are damn close. I will give a full report of my flight later.

I am proud to be represented by the Jug and F2b as the Best of the Best. These planes are better than any aircraft in any other sim out there. I salute you.

And jedi, you practically made a new game in itself with all those great Corsairs.

I feel that one person has been overlooked. If you added up all the votes mposis received for all the great planes he has contributed to SDOE he would have the highest score. I think he deserves something for that.

Final note about the contest. The best part of the contest for me was to work with such a great partner. Zoycite you are the best.

Zoycite is continuing work on the Spad XIII 3D model. I will start the FM and DM when it is ready.

We will also be overhauling the P-51D. New damage model, movable canopy and optional glass reflections. After what I learned in the T-6 today I think the FM is pretty close. But we will be testing it against data to be sure that it is.

We have no plans for any jets at this time. I still hope we get to the C-47 with paratroopers soon.

And we have been trying some things with multiplayer controlled planes using file references. I don't know if we can do anything here or not.

5200fpm sustained climb is a tad high

Also the airfoil has the same problem the p38 used to where it turns worse with flaps down.

Raider,

You won nothing? You got runner-up! Now I won nothing!

Like almost every voter said, it was a hard choice! All the planes were so good.

I can't wait to see the Spad

LOL, Sv, the runner-up trophy was in the ladies room. It is a little brown cup on a bar of soap.

Next contest, I hope we vote for plane builders. If you submit multiple planes then those votes should be combined. This way you guys that build several great plane will not be penalized.

Tailslide, you have done a great job with the P-51D, I hated the way it would stall if I was turning left, it would roll and stall to the right. I thought this was messed up. As it turns out some planes almost always stall to the same side. The rudder input is very close too, the amount of roll with the rudder. However with all planes in SDOE the rudder return should not bounce like it does. (But this is hard coded)

Reality check ...

Even before I became part of "Team Jug" ...

I was (think I still am?).. Part of Team MPosis!

Thanks to Mposis, Yarstick, Vanderstok ... for allowing me to be part of their "forfront efforts" ... all their planes have a special place in my heart ... but I have a special fondness for the Dora.

As the Pioneers of FS plane development ... I salute you!

S!

Thanks for all the kind words guys but dole, Pete Hawk, and Vanderstok are the Openplane pioneers.

Zur,

Without your help, all the 109s and 190s would still have the FM of the original FW190A. You can still do FM on the projects I am doing but I don't think you would like to

So many people, so much good work...

First of all, the fact that we have a documented open file format to work with, and a sim that's generic enough to allow for user extensions this way, is the most important foundation that this all stands on.

Big one to Hippie, naturally. No extractor/builder, no planes. That simple. That's where it all started.

VanderStok set the spirit and showed that this could be done with the He 100.

Bryan Russell's work with OPS cannot be underestimated. It's possible to make planes without it, but it's *so* much more mind taxing and time demanding.

The WW-I community as a whole is what really set OP development on the high gear. I dare not mention any specific person for the risk of forgetting a name. The work they've done is totally outstanding. Their work as boosters for inspiration is beyond mention.

Finally, it's been great to be in the Jug team itself. None of us in the team has the skills to produce a plane, but our different skillsets blend very well to create something that feels, looks and behaves well.

Big thanks to all.

This Contest really did a good job showing off the talent in our community, imo, I just hope the momentum is maintained as much as possible. Raider - C47? Are you really planning on making one? That would be sooooooooo cool! Tied with the STUKA for at the top of my most-anticipated plane list!! Go Raider Go!

Raider,
What do I think? I think I should read this board more often! LOL I think that would be GREAT! Fire me an email and lets get something going.

I get more enjoyment from this game right now by building and tweaking the FM. My current project is a Volksplane, you know with the VW engine and about the size of an ultralight.

Also, I'm not 100% sure about this, but that thing with the flip over in the opposite direction of the turn is the way it should be. I know when I was a student pilot, the one time I did try a spin, it was in a power-on climbing turn, and the plane flipped over the top in that direction. Scared the bejeebers out of me, and my instuctor vowed he would never demonstrate a spin again! LOL
The whole world was spinning and I was completely disoriented. We flew back to the airport dripping wet with sweat. I can well imagine how the early aviators (wwi guys) fell hopelessly from the skies, not knowing how to recover from spins.

Yeah, funny thing is my connect has been 26400 all winter, and now that the weather is in the 70's, I can connect faster and the board loads nice and quick! I get more reading done!

Zoy, you just keep aworkin on that Spad. I'll start the DM on the Pony. When you are ready, we can just switch. I don't think much can be done to the Mustangs FM that Pang hasn't already done. Pang, you would be a big help with the Spad FM.

Pang, about the stall in the P51 it is perfect. I didn't think so before, but the guys with the Texan said that it (Texan)always stalled to the right. You could be in a left hand turn and it would stall right. If you were in a steep right hand turn it would stall and you would be upside down. Buddy you hit it right on. It is possible to stall to the other side of a turn.

Oh yea, I managed to stall the Texan to the left. Lucky me.

We need to get up a Squad night soon.
