I'm writing my thesis for history class, and since WW2 has been one of my favorite periods in history, I thought I'd write it based around WW2. The theme for this year has been colonialism, so our theses have to be somewhat related to colonialism...SO I've been thinking about how the US could be thought of as a colonialist power in regards to it's influences on Japan after the war in the Pacific. No doubt, I have tons of books on the Pacific War, but none have any real meaty information about after the war. Do any of you guys have information on postwar Japan and in particular D. MacArthurs efforts in implementing a new system of government? If any one has any information, let me know... All the new planes, ground objects, skins, etc are amazing... Keep up the great work!!! ------------------ BJN 1968-1996 R.I.P. IP: Logged |

I think you have to start with the Spanish American War if you are going to write about US colonialism. They started implementing new systems of government overseas after they took over the Spanish possessions.I will be looking for this thread in the Off Topic section. Thanks Mposis, I'll look into that. That would definitely be interesting as well... I'm sorry about posting here about something so off-topic, so whoever has the power to do so feel free to move it wherever you want... ------------------ BJN 1968-1996 R.I.P. IP: Logged |

IRG, I have an excellent book on post-war Japan that covers that stuff in depth. Let me have your address and I'll send it to you.jv44sig@globalnet.co.uk IP: Logged |

AFAIK the Japanese constitution (postwar) was written by General McArthur. I don't know if it's the same that they currently have, but it might be worth checking.Peter IP: Logged |

Thanks Siggi!Isaiah Greenwald 24 Fisk St. Red Hook NY 12571 I've been looking around the internet for somewhere that has the original (maybe it still is...) constitution, but many of the sites are in Japanese. I did find a good site for the Spanish-American War that documents in detail America's role as an imperialist power. Thanks again everyone, you've been a wonderful help! ------------------ BJN 1968-1996 R.I.P. IP: Logged |
