Hello! I'm looking to get a license of OPP (just asked MH for this by email) and to set up a team to develop a new sim based on it. I would like which ones of you would be interested in joining this project (or rather, this venture) in order to complete my business plan. This is a very serious project, positions would be paid, expected duration, 12 months. This is still a project until funds have been found. Contact me by email for further details and appliance. ------------------ P/O STef Editor http://stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. K i'm a little confused here man. I think ya got your terms a little mixed up. What you want is a licence to build a sim based on the Openplane engine? OPP is the group of people that got together to work on stuff for SDOE. Is that what you want to do? Are you talking Based on the Openplane engine with your own planes and terrains ands stuff? or right down to the nitty gritty with tweaks and add ons to the engine?

Sorry to confuse you.I mean to put in everything that cannot be put in the game wihtout accessing the code source. I already enumerated a few ideas, as well as other people, though there are many more I keep in my pockets. I strongly believe the only way to move OPP to the next step is to reach an agreement with Inertia/Parsoft to licence the engine and build a complete new sim. OPP is a very good base, this is why it's better than starting from scratch. Hope it's better expressed.

This is why I'm looking for people interested in joining. I will set up a business plan to find a publisher interested in the project. And I was even thinking about Activision at first. I would with joy start a company with my own funds, but I'm not sure it will be enough...

STef,If you need any help count me in. How would this differ from the vapourware, Semi-Open-Source?

Spanky here.. K first off I think you get OPP and OP confused STef. OPP is a group of people that work on SDOE. OP is the openplane engine. You would want to licence OP. Kopper it would different cause it sounds like he is talking about making a new sim but still using SDOE as the base. Changing everything but the underlying code. Quite the project.

Spanky, thanks for pointing my OPP/OP mistake. This project is, of course, based on acquiring a licence of OP.Kopper, the difference is: this is a commercial project. Which means, people joining it would be employed to work on it everyday for about 12 months. Conditions are: 1) setting up a team of people with a relevant experience in 2D art, 3D modeling, programming and/or history. 2) to form a team of potential members that would be available if I succeeded in convincing a publisher to fund the project. 3) this is free of risk for everyone. I will just use at first names and qualities of people to present the project. My main problem is how much will OP be licensed for?

STef,Thats what everyones doing here is creating a sim. Only thing is that their creating it for Activision. Copyrights do not apply to any user created items in Fighter Squadron except those obtained by Activision. At any time Activision could seize and control anything produced here by the users. And they would be within their legal right to do so. Just my thoughts, out loud... Psi IP: Logged |
