I'm after blagging piccys from a very old game for the adjutant's office. If I succeed the site will look much nicer and I'll be up for charges of copyright infringement. Nice.

I thought I saw Big Munger down at the Pub drinking a Guiness. I think he was with Little Tony.

Yeah, and too pissed to help me.
So, Big Munger is only any good for SDoE files, as I've now discovered. So the next question is are there any freely available apps that allow one to open ANY game files? I want to extract some images from an old DOS sim (Rowan's Overlord).
C'mon you experts, help an old blagger here.

I got given Operation Overlord a couple of months ago. Keeps the nephew happy

I'll have a look later for you. Which images do you want?

I want all the stills, airfield and offices. Do you have a file opener that'll work on it? If so where can I get it? Can you send it to me? Where were you on the night of 12th march? Do you own a white Ford Escort?

Hang on, can you actually get Overlord to play on your PC? I get error message 6, "If you are running a disc compression utility make sure your HD has at least 43Mb of free space." I'm not running compression and my disc has 12Gb free. I've tried both the floppy game and the CD version. The floppy won't even install, the CD does.
Oops, sorry, above message refers to installing the floppies. I got the CD versiopn installed but the graphics won't show when I run it, just the cheesy music.
Confused yet? I am.

No, I couldn't get it to run on my PII, but it ran on my nephew's P100. The images are Amiga style LBM's and can be opened in IrfanView (most anyway, some cause an error). Check your email Siggi.

White Ford Escort... Nah, I used to own a Ford Granada Estate Automatic 2.8L V6 It was originally owned a Joiners Shop who made and transported coffins around the UK (empty ones). You could get two coffins abreast in the back. All the time I owned it there was a knocking noise from the rear transmission - my mate was convinced there was someone trying to get out

Hmmmmmm a word of professional advice. (Yes, I *am* serious here....) We are finding at my company that SW that was written PRE PENTIUM II (or more correctly, without the PII in mind...) will not run on (correctly on PII machine (the faster the machine, the worse it runs). I had to make a site visit because of this very thing. Just so ya know...

I got it running on my P3 by manually configuring the VESA drivers, but the screen shakes badly. My joystick didn't work so I flew it by the keyboard, my jaw hanging on the desk as I tried to understand how I could ever have thought it worth buying. God, seven years on...

Siggi, if you just want some of the images from the game, try using "Print Screen", this puts the image on the clipboard. It can then be pasted into a viewing program and filed. Its a bit cumbersome if you have a large number to do, but might be worth a try.

Yo Grandguy!
I found a program to open the files. I did try screen-shots but my system said "naff-off, we can't handle those old formats."

I'm not sure I can use the images now. Having got at them I've found them very poor quality. I'm looking for pics of Jv44's bases so if anyone knows where I can find some please tell me. I've searched the web for hours with no joy.
