If its possible to make oil splat on the windshield in a 109e when the engine gets hit. Why is it not possible to give me my bullet holes. One or two is all I ask, can this happen or am I adopted and suffering from my childhood? Psi IP: Logged |

slk, Try the DVII, It has two visible damage levels, one for a little damage and another for a lot of damage. You can look around you and know just how bad the plane is damaged. And Yes Real Holes In The Wings. Not textures but actual holes in the structure. You can see all the way through. We will be adding this feature to all the planes we make at the War Paint Factory. I hope to see some others doing it too. LOL, I see by the voting that you have tried the DVII, Thank you. ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site [This message has been edited by Raider (edited 04-19-2000).] IP: Logged |

Raider,Well I took her out of the garage last night and gently took her for a short spin. I eased back on the throttle and she settled to the ground like a down feather. She silently rolled to a stop and there was silence. I stepped out carefully (slew) and proceeded to fill her with bullet holes. Derk watching me gave me the willies so I shot him too. The DVII is nothing but pure art in its finest form. The intence attention to detail is a reward for those of us who have this flight model. It is a creation beyond compare, all that took part in this project should be very proud, thanks... And yes the bullet holes are just what I want for Easter, fantastic!!! Psi IP: Logged |

The SE5a shows bullet holes as well I admit the damage skin could be allot better though, but any artist can help out here! See? Dauntless851 created this damage skin that shows ribs: I am a little concearned about the "real" holes adding too many polys, but then again, I am always over concearned about poly count. I think the biggest weakness that WWI has now is texture map overkill. This makes things look sweet, but most video cards can not handle enough planes now Since the Albatros usually has such a busy skin anyway, I decided to save precious texture memory and not do a damage skin. As video cards carry more memory, we can do more and more, the first scalable flight sim! ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Thanks slk, guys like you make all the extra effort worth it.Just wait till you see what we do with the Spad XIII. Although it won't be ready by Easter, I think it will be worth the wait. ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site

Heya all,Yup wait till you see the Spad We like Sv are always trying to save on polys aswell as the amount of textures used. This is why the DVII only has real holes on 3 lods. Believe me we wanted to go crazy. The Spad will use almost a 3rd less textures and only one level of damage modeling. Where the DVII had 2. If all goes well, the Spad should be another step towards the future. PSI,
Thanks for the nice comments ------------------ Zoycite 33rd~GS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |

Thanks guys,I realize that time is the steep terrain as far as modeling goes in FS, but I'm patient. And if I can help out in a limited way let me know. I would like to do my part to make this the best sim to ever be. The SE5a also shows sustained damage and does it quite well. But I have been using some of the WWI A/C in missions and am beginning to understand your reservations on the polys. Its the first time I can recall my VD3 16Mhz vid card getting so dredged. But by the time all these FM,DM's are completed and all the new stuff is out I may up-grade my system and a nuclear vid card. (don't tell my wife) But thanks for all your input to get us to this point at this time... Psi IP: Logged | |
