I haven't heard anything about this in over a month. Me and a few others wanted to take it up and add a few things and get a few things fixed for the Planepack. Mostly getting all the planes in the the right countries. I think +a few of us want to update Mposis's Zero with a little better FM and slightly updated cockpit. Anyone that worked on it (or is working on it) could you reply and let us know something. also let us know the voice overs you do not currently have. ------------------

what about Japan? Has there been anything as far as work on the Japan nation? I might have something in the voice over area for it, i'm still waiting on word from a guy.------------------

Razer - Thanks for the offer! After we released v1 (Japan, Soviet Union and Italy, all with authentic voices in respective languages) the Nations lead crew (Myself, Jeeves and Poodle) either took a break or worked on other things for a bit. Meanwhile, Pachy, Lfbpro and others have been putting together elements of the French pack, AGAS5 and Redback have been working on Australia, and Poodle, Ash and Serval have been working on Holland. I was actually going to post a big update on the BCATP a few days ago, but xoom flushed my site. If you're wanting to help, now would be a great time because I think Spanky's looking to get a Canada project started. If what you meant, however, was that you wanted to tweak Japanese/Soviet aircraft FMs or other details to make them more nations compliant, then fire away. As project leads, we have decided to watch over the work on any project such as France, Holland and Australia to provide support and to ensure compatability with previous releases, as well as to ensure the minimum number of releases possible (fewer downloads) . This is why I'd ask that if you want to work on a particular nation, please get in touch with me via email. I know at first it may seem a wee bit authoritarian, but it our solution to preventing overwrites and other assorted difficulties. Who else were you referring to, as wanting to help, and in what capacity? Werner  ------------------

I'm sorry I didn't follow the nations project before. This is the first time I have tried it and now that I am working on pacific theater planes I thought it might be nice to have japan in there. Now I think Razer & Co were only asking if this was still being worked on or not. Don't always have to be on the defense.IP: Logged |

Umm, we thought it was dead, this is why we wanted to start working on it. D0gma , Razor747 and I have a ton of planes we are working on plus d0gma and myself have been working on the Planepack. We really don't want to start another project since we have all the others in the works. ------------------

Actually guys-- the Japan Nation has been as far as I know complete and relatively bug-free. If there is a str in front of any of your squad names, we have found that it is due to some problem in installation. Right before we released V.1, I did a new install and so did a few others, and no squads were found to have the "str" in front. As far as adding the Zero and Tony and whatever else for planes-- it really is a matter of changing those planes loadout references from their default to Japan. We did not want to assume that the plane creators would want their planes included at first in Nations, so that is why the Zero wasn't a Japanese plane at first. It just requires a few minor changes in the loadout.ppf...for instance in the Zero- change the descCountry, descPicture, and desc stats from Germany to Japan...and go into Media\GUI\Art\Hangar and take the Zero out of the Germany folder and put it into a newly created Japan folder. Other creators have already done this, like Tail and Laika and their Yak and I16 respectively, so the burden of putting the planes with the correct nation falls on the creators and we'll keep working on bringing in new Nations for you to do that with. ------------------

Me again...As far as the FM's and DM's go-- this shouldn't affect Nations at all, as it really involves altering the plane's folder. Nations only places the plane in it's correct Nation with accurate language, pilot ranks, and medals. That's about it-- along with having some new squads to make historically accurate missions with. ------------------
