Has anyone ever seen the Shore Battery guns fire? I was just thinking about this after reading another thread discussing ships and why they don't fire on other ships, land units etc.

Is it just that I have missed it somehow?

Would it be possible to make the shore batteries and ships fire on other things than aircraft? If so the aircraft we fly could come upon a ongoing battle. Might be kind of neat.

Just some mental burps while drinking my first cup of coffee.

Ships don't seem to shoot at each other.

I have had ships / tanks firing at each other in missions.

I'll have to check what I did.

I experienced the same as spin did. What you should always do is make one ship axis and the other allied, and the same goes for tanks. And don't put them too far away. Then it should work (used to work?).

I have done that numerous times. Just yesterday I had 2 carriers sitting right next to each other....nothing! Until I landed the plane on the deck, then the other carrier blasted away.

In my soon to be released Dover Part 3...there are a few D-Day missions where the Exeters are blasting at not only other ships, but also things on the shore...I think just making sure Allegiances are opposite does it...or you may want to try upping the aggression levels as well?

PR, the reason that the carriers don't fire on each other is because the guns AI targets are set as aicraft_set only. with the Yamato I have it set to attack all AI targets (aircraft, seacraft and landcraft_set) but I haven't tested to see the rusults, mainly because I haven't found out why I can't have the Exeter and Yamato in the same mission, oh, and the Exter will explode after one hit from the Yamato's guns.. LOL but I'll test this shortly with tanks etc.. The Yamato shouldn't have to be too close to shore.. I've given the guns onboard the correct range.

I'll let you know how it goes, but I have seen online missions with ships firing on each other myself (Carrier Duel is one of them)

Nat,

I made these changes for the Akizuki but they still don't fire at each other. I will send you the mission tonight. By the way, I am also making the IJN Destroyer Teruzuki. I will finish it before the Zuikaku because it has a lot less parts.
