Sorry... I hate to crosspost, but we need to clear this up fast...

The P-47d is listed in both categories of voting. The P-47d is supposed to only be in the "Best New Aircraft" category.

It's very important that this gets cleared up immediately. I don't want the Jug snatching any votes away in the wrong category....
Again, to clarify, the Jug should only be in the "Best New Aircraft" category.
Thanks.

And why isn't the A6M5 Zero in the best a/c catagory? It wasn't made before january was it?

This will make my decision most difficult. I need to know if the catagory changes so that I can adjust my vote. The Jug is one fine peice of work. Congratulations no matter what the results are in the contest...

This needs to be taken care of immediately or tabulation is going to be extremely confusing.

Siggi,

The Zero does not qualify for the Best New Plane because it was released on November 1999. Thanks for your vote.

JT,

Like me and most of the voters, MH must have forgotten the list at: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ContestEntries.html

Anyway, the planes should have been entered in all the categories that they qualified for.

Just noticed the Yak is in the same situation. According to the Entries page it's only entered in the Best New category, but according to the list in the voting booths it's in both.

I think you're right, Marc, but even so... according to the Entries page...

"Duplicate entries will appear for those people who plan on entering their models in both categories."

I take that to mean that the contestants could enter either category or both categories, but there's nothing that says planes entered in the Best New category will automatically be considered to be entered in the Best Overall category also.

If it is the case that planes in the Best New category also fall under the Best Overall category, then why would some planes be listed only in the Best New category while others are in both?

Either way, we need this cleared up before more votes are cast.

Why is the p-47 in both?

It was a mistake. In thinking about it though, I belive it's a good mistake. There were only 17 planes submitted and they should all be eligable for Best Overall Plane.

Some planes are only listed in Best New category in the original list because their authors only entered in that category (perhaps not realizing that Best New is also eligible for Best Overall).

The reason that some planes are not eligable for Best New Plane is that they were released prior to Dec 1 '99

Well, OK.... if everyone is OK with it, then I guess I am too. I just wanted to make sure we don't get accused of trying to pull a fast one.

I thought the purpose of the 2 categories was to have 2 different winners. Right now one plane can win both categories.

I think if a one plane wins both categories, that winner only gets one set of prize and the next highest vote getter wins the other set of prize.

Just my opinion.

I think all the contestants need to weigh in on this. I'm kind of surprised that this thread hasn't gotten more response and dialogue.

The original contest proposal by PR was for best new plane. When additional money was pledged it was decided to have a second category for best plane ever, to give planes submitted prior to the contest a chance to win. If a new plane also wins best overall plane in competition with earlier planes then yes, a new plane can win both prizes.

Just like a WWI plane can win best best WWI plane and best new plane and even best overall plane - all three categories.

At least that's my understanding.

Ah, but how do you decide WHICH second-place finisher gets the other prize? One guy is second for "best overall," the other is second for "best new." Could go by total votes I guess.

Compromise maybe?

If one plane should win more than one category, how bout:

Winner gets $300, Voodoo3 card, and MG license.

The two second place guys split the remaining $100, Voodoo3, and MG license. Maybe Multigen would pony up a second license in this case.

The WWI contest was specifically for WWI planes, so it would be kept separate. If you win best WWI and best new plane, you get both prizes. If you win all three, you keep the cash for best WWI, and split the two main prizes as above.

Hopefully, different planes will win anyway

As far as the Jug goes, it should be in both categories unless the Jug guys don't want it to be...

Jedi,

By second place prize do you mean Siggi's model? I guess that's up to him.

Otherwise, there is no second place prize. First place gets the money, the Voodoo card and the software license (except WWI which is money only).

Multiple-category entries have always been allowed and there's no second-place prize (unless you want to supply one).

Hehe actually it's more or less immaterial to me (unless I win something of course)

If one of the team efforts wins both categories, they're gonna need all the money and cards and software just to make sure everybody gets something
