Does that mean it's a hit? Will Activision print more? And does anyone know how many units were actually produced???? [This message has been edited by JT (edited 04-11-2000).] IP: Logged |

There's still a place in town selling SDOE for $40 a pop they have about 5 or six on the shelves. WW2 fighters is right beside it going for $25 You'd think a deal for a 'gold' edition at a discounted price with some sort of *cough* patch would be worth the expense for them. TS IP: Logged |

Ahhh.... Activision's strategy is clear to me now... rather than selling as many units as possbile, their strategy was to make Fighter Squadron so scarce that it becomes collectible. :-) [This message has been edited by JT (edited 04-11-2000).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here... I think a gold edition is a great idea. Could be a huge cash grab for activsion so I can't see why they would't want to do it. Pay MH to work on it for a couple months full time when he is done the rc sim. and release that sucker. IP: Logged |

You guys are dreaming! Crapavision doesn't give a shit about this sim! They are sure not going to sink any more money in it for MH or duplication or distribution. My business list serve tells me they are laying people off. Probably no one responsible for their dumb business decisions, unfortunately. IP: Logged |

I don't know about most of the previous, but I do know that companies will release the SW again at a discount price (usually ends up a Wal-Mart or Target) in a jewel case only. Costs them almost _nothing_ as they already have the master CD. You don't need employees to do that. Its easy to outsource everything once the CD has gone gold. No fancy packaging just a jewel case.------------------ Snickers =FC= IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Yea exactly just a jewlcase release. Even without any changes, as paying someone for some work on it ain't cheap. It was an idea though. Gold releases come out all the time.

We make more copies Screw Activision, and like MH said, Parsoft doesn't get squat from sales of this game.------------------ -=TheReaper=-

For info a budget edition has been out here in France (and also UK I think)for about two months. Its exactly the same as the original with a different box. Not sure they even bothered to include the patch in it. Acti seems pretty proud as i recently saw a double page ad for this budget line and they were very proud to say they had a sim in it ie SDOE. Price is 15$ and its available in all the places where we usually find new games. It may even have a larger diffusion than the original as I recall I had trouble to find it went out last year... ------------------ ___________ -=BAB=-Luny [This message has been edited by Luny (edited 04-11-2000).] IP: Logged |

I just want to clear something up, whilst every one is talking about the game and patch needed. I am assuming you are talking about the CD patch,I don't know what happened to all you folks where ever you may be, but the version i got (when it first came out),over here in Australia HAD the CD patch SUPPLIED by Activision in the box with it (it was in a floppy disk). The shop i bought it from must have been up to date, because they had also included the patch on a disk!IP: Logged |

Mine, (in Aus) didn't have a patch and it didn't work when I installed it! I had to download the cd patch before it would work. Just think how many people must have returned the game because it was faulty! I wonder how the shops took care of this, most places I know think support is what holds yer tits up.

Being the cheap weasel that I am, I bought the game online for around $12. Don't tell anyone but the CD came stamped with the words "For Sale In Thailand Only". I live in the U.S. and have never been to Thailand.IP: Logged |
