Well has you can see i'm touched up the fuse some and it now smooths perfectly.

the new cockpit framing is being touched up and i have to map the other side of the fuse. (as soon as i figured that out

i'm also going to touch up the cockpit is i can. And yes i'm going to leave the picture of the chick on the dash.

I'm also going to add a few new things but i can't tell you what those are.

Well looks like i might be posting an image of a new feature not currently present on the Mustangs. No it's not moving canopy, though i do have a P51D that has it (thanks to Razor747) but this is something else that will make it look more real. I've also added it to the P51D, and in Planepack 5.4 you should see some great new mustangs to fight the germans with...

Is that a Malcolm hood, or the standard framed canopy?? Oh, another thing: Couldn't anyone use ten mins of their lives slaving over AC3D and OPS to make a Tiffie Mk.1b with bubble canopy?

OK, let me put this another way, It's not really NEW, but it is something the 3D model should have had a long time ago.

i'm working on a HOOD version also will probably be a P51C but i still have to figure out how to map the sides with different textures.

Hey Tony I've got a P-51B I modified with the Malcolm canopy and Polish RAF skin into a Mustang Mk III and also an Apache with a reshaped fuselage and green paint job.

I'll send em to ya if you want to play with em at all. Otherwise I'll just modify your new ones and see how they come out...

Razer,
Wasn't ther a more realistic prop that you or someone was working on for the P51? I think the prop looks kinda goofy that is on there.

The P51B already had a more realistic prop and spinner. (check it out to see what i'm saying) This was added to the P51D months ago but i never realesed it and lost it in a HDD formate a long with my spitfire MK XIV.

I will update the P51D with the new spinner but the prop was a tad different then the B so i'll re do it.

Jedi- cool i have a hood cockpit ready to go, (thanks to roughboy) but i still have a new things i want to add to the fuse. plus i still don't know how to map boths sides of the fuse. Jedi, think you can help me out?

On a differnt note: i did get the new wings of the Ki-61 in game last night.

for chewing up JU88s. Just make the

Can't remember who but I would like to see its progress.

HEHEHE No, no , no, 3D pipes have already been added

It's not WEP since it's not possible with the code. Think more in the 3D model area. I'm trying to make the models look better. all the Mustangs will have sliding cockpits and a few other details. but it's model related.

Gunner, DanW was working on that, havn't heard about that since i think he took that job. It would most likly never get used like the P38 MOD. i'm using the same texture as the P51D since i want these to be used.

As soon as i get the cockpit framing done i can take some images closer to show off the new things.

i'm going to be working on it some tonight so you might see something then, but i'm not making any promises.

You know, i might need to chill on this. It will be like the Star Wars Movie all over again. I get this thing all built up and when it comes out people would expect more. It's not a step forward for SDOE, it's just something i thought should have been there and i'm trying to make the planes more detail. (well with in reason)

Well HOPEFULLY, Razer is adding a better tail section to the Mustang It needs to be more round. I have a prop and spinner mod that was adapted from Razer's p51b. Also, the whole fuselage could be rounded out a bit for that matter!

I still have the Mustang remapping project, but I pushed it aside to work on the Jug. Now, the p47 spoiled me and I dont want to mess with the old mustang again. I would LOVE to see a new Mustang 3D model. I would go so far as to request to texture map it as well. Similar to what JT did with the jug.

Currently, I am remapping another aircraft.....but it is going very slow. The results should be pretty good though.

Tony--

Not sure what you mean about the fuselage side mapping. The original P-51B I worked from had two separate fuselage sides mapped, as do the Mustang Mk III and new Apache I built.

If your new one doesn't, I'd be glad to remap the fuselage textures for ya. It basically involves cutting the fuse in half, mapping each side, and then welding it back together. Just let me know if I can help...

I was thinking about reworking the P-51D as well with opening canopy, spinner that spins, new prop, new exhaust stacks, new tailplane etc, but it sounds like 3 or 4 guys are already on that job--which allows me to switch over to a couple of other projects...

Hehe yep I just meant "3D-izing" the stabs, elevator and rudder so that they're not "flat." Been talkin to Dan about a whole new Stang, primarily addressing giving her a little more "curvaceous" bod, but sounds like you guys have it pretty much under control. Not gonna reinvent what other guys are workin on when there are Macchis and Mitchells to be conjured...

Built the "placeholder" plane for the B-25 the other night. Looks pretty silly, and I don't know if it'll fly yet, but OPS didn't upchuck, so so far, so good...

Oh the 2d tail on all the planes is my biggest pet peeve.

I HATE IT!!!

You look back and you can't tell if it was shot off or your just looking at its infinte thiness

P38 could use some work on the model. Some parts don't have smoothing and such.

that wasn't on my list, and probably wont since every part i make in AC3D has F*'ed up lighting.. parts i've made for the new B have been fixed by others. anything and everything i've ever made in AC3D, be it the B25 or the Hellcat i was playing with, or the F86 Sabre, they all had F*'ed up lighting and i have no idea how to fix other then sending it to someone that has MAX and knows how to fix it.

plus the tail would have to be mapped again.

Well, here is a teaser for the Corsair. It's been painted all blue just to see if the dark spots are worked out. I'm not going too fast, so don't expect something anytime soon. The mapping will be similiar to what is on the P47. There will be two tiff files. The cowling should have a little bit higher detail than the rest of the aircraft.

The smoothed p51b looks awesome ! Would love to see some 3d tailfeathers as well.

Please don't do any work in max on the default planes that come with the game like the p51d tho.. just the act of exporting to max and back into SDOE will add more polygons due to the .obj exporter being limited to 4 sided polys.

Cheers!

Tailslide- Yes the new fuse with the smoothing is very sweet. I used the old rear fuse and just molded it to the front fuse.

Now, i have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?

Ok, the good news. i think the new version of the P51B will rock when it's released.

Bad News, I've had the final AC3D problem. After playing with the new tails last night, AC3D closed for no reason loosing all the work i did.

I'm putting all my current projects on hold.

Ki-61
P51 B
P51 C
Updating the P51 D

I have Max 3 and i'm going to spend the next few weeks learning it and ditching AC3D.

If you want to take up anyone of the P51's for the time being then cocntact me and i'll send what i have.

Ki-61 is still going to be my baby so you can't pick it up
