IMO there is no better periscope scene then the one from the movie "1941" John Belushi, Dan Akroid, John Candy, etc. The Japanese submarine off the coast of California.

LMAO.. yeah I'd almost forgotten about that one

If I were talkin serious though.. none better than the full length 4 hour version of Das Boot, what a brilliant film (shame they always put subtitles on it or dub it into English though.. damned distracting) Really though, awesome film.

Das boot is fantastic on DVD .. you can change it between spoken english and german, turn subtitles on or off.

I don't like how they 'cleaned up the language' on the four hour version. They redid the english voices with the original actors voices for german television though which is kinda cool.
