Jag, there should be a better texture out there, that will be easier to use for mapping, and the prop was marked out on it, think Doug has it, maybe you could post in OPP forum and ask for it to be posted there so everyone has it.~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Looks great! How does that "fork" that is holding the bomb work? Iīve seen something like that on a Swedish divebomber from WWII, the "fork" was swung down to get the bomb out of the propīs slipstream when released. Is that the same on the Dauntless? Can you swing it up and down? Regards/Robert IP: Logged |

Yep, that's exactly how the fork is meant to work. Sling the bomb out from under the prop.IP: Logged |

Correct, when the bomb was released in a sharp dive angle, the swing arm ensured the bomb cleared the Propeller arc.Rattler IP: Logged |

The Swedish bomber who had a bomb crutch must have been the Saab B17. (Yep, it's name is B17) It was a dive bomber with rather good performance.IP: Logged |

Looking really good guys, I'm going to be doing a great scheme for it as soon as the final mapping is done. I've just amazed myself from what i can do with this new Drawing pad

Currently the "bomb trapeze" (that's what I call it anyway) doesn't "auto-swing" when you drop the bomb. I have it rigged up to extend and retract with the dive brake key (split dive brakes not yet functional, but we have the parts built in and textures for em).I wanted to have the trapeze swing out when you pressed the bomb release, but bomb release is a 'inp function, which as near as I can tell can't be associated with a DOF like a 'cmd function can. (Or else I just goofed it up when I tried it) The other problem with that is that if I time the trapeze and bomb release simultaneously, the bomb will just fall off the trapeze rather than swinging out. Maybe we can work up an obFunc that will swing the bomb down and then release it, but that will mean using a different key or button from the normal bomb release. Right now you just extend the trapeze with the dive brakes, and then drop the bomb when ready--a reasonable initial compromise IMO. Oh, yeah--the pilot opens the canopy too ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Yup-- we owe jedi a lot for taking some initiative and getting some work done on her-- and the texture you see at present is from Nat-- he will fix it as the .sm is updated. We have quite a team working on her and I think the final release wil be well worth all the wait. Cheers guys-- great job!------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

Beautiiiiful work guys.Jedi. You could give the Bomb arm this property in the proplist of the DOF (dofID 'bayDoor) Then you could lower the bomb by pressing "D" this works the same way as opening the Bomb bay doors on a B-17. This will lower the bomb to the DOF max when you press "D" and return it when you press "D" again. There will also be sound if you use this. You do not have to put all the other stuff in the proplist. Just (dofID 'bayDoor) except for spring strenth if you want the arm to tear off if you go over a certain speed. Can't wait to try this baby ------------------ Raider 33rd~GS Raiders Site

Jedi, Email me and I will explain to you how to make it work. I have the cockpit guns in the Dauntless & Zero shake when the Joystick button is pressed. It can be done. ------------------ Thanks, James "Razor747" Smith Check out the SDOE Flight Line! I am constantly adding new things. Click on image above to go to my site.

The real crutch swung out as the bomb released rather than a seperate step but no idea how you could do this with OpenPlane. TS

Spanky here.. The bombbay door thing sounds great. Uses a button already used and you get a sound. Perfect. I know it should all be one button but we can't get too picky Its still going to rock.
