Well, it's time to start informing the community whats going on. so here it is.

"PP5.4 and future packs will fix the mismatch problems and install problems. all the mismatches with 5.3a was just people installing the patch wrong. If it was installed right then there would have been no problems. This will not be a problem in 5.4 and we are currently working on a 5.3B patch that will fix the mis-install of 5.3a and fix the 262, Lanc doesn't have a problem. The problem with the lanc, is the same as the WW1 planes. When AI takes over the plane and it runs out of fuel you get the CTD, Fuel must be full in the Lanc to not CTD.

give us a few days and we should have something for the community.."

We are start thinking of having a community standard on startup.ppf file. This would add planes not currently out yet, or planes being worked on. If you creat a new airfoil for aplane then you would need to mail the person handling this and tell them the name. this will be added and posted. Might have an exe file made up to check this so you wont have to surf for it.

This way we can try to remove the CTD's due to airfoils..

This sound like we are going in the right direction?

All sounds very good to me Razor I've had alot of requests for the 262 patch, which I've gladly given out, but I did put a note in the mail specifying that this cannot be used online at the moment, so there shouldn't be any complaint of mismatches online if they take heed...

The idea of a standard ppf file that holds all current data sounds like a good one too, I hope it works out that way

me too, we are hoping to have a program that looks for the most current files and lets you know if the version you have it up-to-date.

We are glad to annouce that all future Planepack's and Patches from now on will be in a full blown Installer. which will allow you to uninstall anything you add.

Can we wound the Ju88 pilot? I set up a quick fleet defense mission with 3 190A3's escorting about 6 Ju88's and 4 P-47D's flying cover. On the first go, I dove into the flight of 88's and did a sweeping pass over the nearest 88. I didn't see smoke pouring from anywhere on the plane (I checked and also checked the game settings to make sure that smoke was on) but the pilot hit the silk. First time for me. The next 88 I clipped it's left wing and my 47 promptly exploded. Also, the 88's engines appear a little strong (obHit wise) yet - but it is nice to have to work for the kill.

Too bad I can't vote for any of the planes. What a rush. I'm going to sub in Yak-3's next and beef up the 88's bomb load.

BTW, what happened to the efforts to have the bombs fall out of the bay the correct (tail first) way?

i think pilots can be hirt in 5.3, it's something we are really looking into for 5.4, the bomb thing should be in 5.4 along with a completely updated Damage model. right now the 109A4 can take more hits then the B17 which would have never happened..

Most things have been bumped to 5.4 to give the guys more time to prefect the stuff they are working on.

Spanky here...

Major problem with the plan with the Startup file.

Someone needs to babysit it. Thats no good. That person will get bored with it and quit and move on.

Why not put it on the same page that I mentioned for the planes. And have any builder that needs to change it with a new airfoil just DL it. Add his airfoil and reupload it. And have the version # change. with a little note saying that its been updated.

I think it is the perfect solution

Razer if you sub in the latest 190A4 the engine catches fire similar to the ju88 now.

We are currently working on a fix for updates. We should have a good plan in place by 5.4 which will make updates a lot easier. We are planing to setup the installer to rename your old startup.ppf file before it installs the new one. this way you can replace it if the new one is not right.

if we're having a lil chat about ideas and stuff in general to do with pp5.4, it would be nice to see the B17 toughend up a little, everything I hear about the B17 is how much stick it could take and still get home.. ours just seem to wanna explode, I think from what tiny bit I know it could probably be done as a quick fix by just altering the damage levels.. but see what you think anyways, it just seems like it falls apart to me.

Guys along with your installer that looks for updated files you just need to merge/insert the required lines for each aircraft into the startup.ppf file, no need to overwrite it. Problem solved.

Just to clear up a thought I had, the installer will check our aircraft, and maybe even for future use vehicles folders, I guess that means that if we have installed and upto date a/c that isn't stored in Par file, but in the folder tree, that this will be found and not overwritten? I know it's a daft Q, but was just kinda miffing myself.. not enough sleep recently... well.. and not so recently aswell..

Don't worry Nat, The other guys in OPP are currently revamping all the Damage models. They told me that according to the damage stuff the FW190 was tougher then the B17 in game. This is going to be fixed in 5.4... 5.4 is turning into a Damage pack we are not grahicly changing the damage but making it more realistic to bullets and other real world things like fire and lose of engines due to damage.
