Bonjour !
For those who want to fly P47D with a french historic skin, here is the first one I made.

Groupe de Chasse II/5 La Fayette, 4th squadron.
http://shemzone.free.fr/sdoe/skins/p47d/GCII-5-La_Fayette_camo.zip

One skin is still in progress:
Groupe de Chasse Lorraine (?), unknown squadron.

The stork on the side will be removed as it is from GCII/3 Dauphiné, 4th Escadre.

I've a also a bug with ETO black and white strips which are repeated on just one side when I zoom out.

In project:
Groupe de Chasse I/5 Champagne , 3rd Escadre
Groupe de Chasse II/3 Dauphiné ; 4th Escadre

Some others french skins will follow as soon as I get the historic details.

I hope you enjoy.

Bonne chance et bon vol !

Talk about duplicate work!

are you sure there are yellow stripes on this bird? I must confess I did not go to Le Bourget Museum to check that out. And yes, the canopy should be green, I'll post the corrected version sometime tonight.

Cheers!

Bonjour !
*frowning* Hey Pachy, did I not mention you by private email that I was going to work on this Groupe de Chasse La Fayette ?!?
I remember yes, but anyway, the jobs were done...

About the yellow strip:
Les bandes jaunes subsistent parfois jusqu'en 1945 sur des appareils prélevés dans l'USAAF ou ayant servis en Italie.
The yellow strips remain sometimes on devices taken in the USAAF until 1945 or having served in Italy.

Also:
Les bandes de reconnaissance rapide (ETO bands) adoptées en 1943 (jaune, 1943 - blanc-noir, juin1944) sont encore présentes sur certains appareils notamment des D-4/10/15/16/17/18/20/21/22/23 RE-RA.
The bands(strips) of fast recognition (ETO bands) adopted in 1943 (yellow, on 1943 - white - black, juin 1944) are still present on some devices notably D-4 / 10/15/16/17/18/20/21/22/23 RE-RA.

As I found this:
Janvier 43: La Fayette II/5 - P-47* Cdt De Rivals-Mazère Oran-Gibraltar-Tunisie-Italie.

So I added the Yellow strip.
I know these strips were painted or removed depending of the missions, there is a chance these yellow strips have been painted on this plane.

I noticed also that the "cocarde" was just on a single top wing.

What french skins are you planning to do?

It should be better if we don't paint the same. I think you painted yours faster than me (seing the numerous of nice skins you did...).
Those I'd like to paint:
Groupe de Chasse I/5 Champagne , 3rd Escadre (A stork in a red-brown flag)
Groupe de Chasse II/3 Dauphiné , 4th Escadre (A stork painted on the side).

Tell me if you have already started some of them.
Bonne chance et bon vol.

Did one of the patches bring out the sun in SDOE or are those screen shots doctored? (BTW nice skins)

Robert,
us frenchmen we sometimes like to cheat a little. After all, photoshop, paint shop pro and the gimp are nothing but big FSDOE add-ons, right ?

OK I've posted my updated La Fayette skin. I have not much data on french P-47 skins so no more duplicate work ahead.

lfbpro also allowed me to post the corrected version of his "No guts no glory" skin. I love it.

Bonjour !
Great skin Pachy and thanks to let me try to join the SDOE artists with my few project.

I think the american skins are funnier to paint but I will stay with my french skins in mind for now.

By the way, indeed Photoshop is one of my favorite software even if mine can't open the BMP generated by SDOE .

Bon vol !

Bonjour !
Razer, oh yes yes yes!!! I have spent a lot of time to erase the elements I didn't want, especially the ETO strips over the landing gear.
Your template will be in great help. Let us know the URL.

Thanks in advance.
