Bonjour !
*frowning* Hey Pachy, did I not mention you by private email that I was going to work on this Groupe de Chasse La Fayette ?!?
I remember yes, but anyway, the jobs were done...About the yellow strip:
Les bandes jaunes subsistent parfois jusqu'en 1945 sur des appareils prélevés dans l'USAAF ou ayant servis en Italie.
The yellow strips remain sometimes on devices taken in the USAAF until 1945 or having served in Italy.
Also:
Les bandes de reconnaissance rapide (ETO bands) adoptées en 1943 (jaune, 1943 - blanc-noir, juin1944) sont encore présentes sur certains appareils notamment des D-4/10/15/16/17/18/20/21/22/23 RE-RA.
The bands(strips) of fast recognition (ETO bands) adopted in 1943 (yellow, on 1943 - white - black, juin 1944) are still present on some devices notably D-4 / 10/15/16/17/18/20/21/22/23 RE-RA.
As I found this:
Janvier 43: La Fayette II/5 - P-47* Cdt De Rivals-Mazère Oran-Gibraltar-Tunisie-Italie.
So I added the Yellow strip.
I know these strips were painted or removed depending of the missions, there is a chance these yellow strips have been painted on this plane.
I noticed also that the "cocarde" was just on a single top wing.
What french skins are you planning to do?
It should be better if we don't paint the same. I think you painted yours faster than me (seing the numerous of nice skins you did...).
Those I'd like to paint:
Groupe de Chasse I/5 Champagne , 3rd Escadre (A stork in a red-brown flag)
Groupe de Chasse II/3 Dauphiné , 4th Escadre (A stork painted on the side).
Tell me if you have already started some of them.
Bonne chance et bon vol.
