I am just wondering which is used more by the people on this board. The reason is because there is a problem with my website when you look at it with Netscape. The files I made with WinAce do not DL correctly with Netscape. I need to find a way of making them work with Netscape. Any suggestions are welcome. This is the page in question: www.fightersquadron.com/flightline/planes.htm ------------------ Thanks, James "Razor747" Smith Check out the SDOE Flight Line! Heya,77% of users that visit the War Paint Factroy use Internet Explorer in one form or another. While only 22% use Netscape. And 1% or so use "other". So my guess is that your site has about the same ratio. I have had a few NS use say that they cant use the Java menus on my sight. Maybe 2 of them, but other NS users say they can use them. The menu's work fine when I test using Ns 4.0. So while the NS user base is small I will be adding a menu selection for them to use. ------------------ Zoycite 33rd~GS visit The War Paint Factory IP: Logged |

Elric got it one one, simply put a note just before the downloads section saying what to do if they have Netscape, it's only 2 clicks more IP: Logged |

Spanky here... IE here. Not 5 though, just 4. 5 totally messed up DLing off FTPs one way you can make it work man. But It will cause problems if people don't read a little note. Rename the file to example_c01.zip then it will DL. then they just rename and take the zip off and replace the underscore with a period. Its really simple and if people can't understand that then F$(k them. I'm not mad Just positive that someone will DLit and say WTF why won't this zip work. No browsers should have problems with that. I use Netscape to check stuff from the office, simply because IE is (obviously) not available under Linux. At home, it depends on which icon I prefer at the moment .Gecko =FC= IP: Logged |

I knew about the save link as already, but the files still dont seem to come down correctly with NS 4.6. I get all the files, but when I run the exe, it says something about a missing archive(I do have all the files). A guess is that since the file extensions are not known(c01,c02) netscape is downloading them as ASCII and not binary. I noticed this problem before with winace files: I must of downloaded the planepack 4 or five times before I finally went and just got a zip file. Solution1: put the things all in 1 zip file Solution2: put the things in multiple zip files. Or if there is anyway to change that extension in winace for those other archive files, make them exe's?Just my 2 cents, I downloaded winace just for the plane pack, and I was pretty damn frustrated when it just didnt seem to work right on the plane pack files. I've always used winzip myself, and dont mind up to 30 meg downloads via modem(I just start it late at night and leave it running, its there in the am). IP: Logged |

For the SBM site:48% IE4.X 22% IE5.X 22% NS4.X I can't say what NS6 supports but NS4.X really is a pain to deal with. It barely supports HTML 4.0 and yet the W3C has since recommended HTML 4.01 and now XHTML 1.0 as the standard. AFAIK, NeoPlanet is the most compliant with the newer standards. Have you tried using HTML validation? Look here. cheers sand [This message has been edited by sandman (edited 04-05-2000).] IP: Logged |

This is from www.cdmag.com: America Online today announced Preview Release 1 of the Netscape 6 browser at the Spring Internet World 2000 trade show. Netscape 6 is powered by Netscape's Gecko browser engine technology. In a keynote address at the show today, AOL CEO Steve Case said that both Netscape 6 and Gecko will move towards supporting open source standards like XML in the future. Netscape 6 features support for LINUX, Apple OS and Windows. Netscape 6 is a smaller download and features such amenities as My Sidebar - a feature that lets consumers always keep the online functions and information they rely on on the desktop; support for Netscape Instant Messenger; the ability to access multiple e-mail accounts; Themes which let users personalize the look and feel of the browser; support for plugins like the Java plug-in from Sun Microsystems and Net2Phone-powered Internet telephony services; a new AutoTranslate feature which translates Web pages in one click; and Netscape 6 Cookie Manager, which allows consumers to accept or block cookies placed on their hard drives. Additional information on Netscape 6 can be found at http://home.netscape.com. I guess a change of my callsign would be appropriate at this point
