This is what is included in it:

1. A6M5b13
2. Albatros Dva_v6
3. Bristol F2B_v10
4. Camel
5. F4UPack (Date March 21)
6. FokkerD8_v4
7. FokkerVVIIvC
8. HurriBeta1
9. I16_Beta_v1_1
10. P47d28ra
11. ShootingStar
12. Yak3V1b
13. F4F4beta(Contest)

All of the planes are dated on or a few days before the 26th of March. I figured that because the 26th of March was the deadline, that I would make the Contest PP with the planes released. I realize that some of the planes were not entered into the contest and they have been updated, but to be fair, I just made the cutoff date the 26th. I will put the updated planes on my website today. I will be making a webpage on my site that is just for the new planes & contest planes. If you update your plane, please email me the latest build, so I can get it up on the site for everyone to download.

I have installed the contest pak, correctly I think. But I have two questions:

I lost Siggi's wonderful Japanese for the Zero . It shows up in Japan but with German radio commands. I still have the Russian language for the Yak and I16. How do I get the Japanese back?

By putting the contest planes in par data files doesn't that eliminate the need for separate .sm and loadout files in the plane's folder? I tried deleting the sm and loadout files for a plane (the Zero) and lost the plane until I restored them. If we have to keep them in folders what is the advantage of a par file?

As with all Par files, if you have any of these aircraft already installed, the seperate installed aircraft will over write what ever is in the Par File. Therefore, I think I am right in saying that you will need to delete any and all of these aircraft folders from your Media/aircraft directory or else you'll never be flying whats in the Pack.

Think I will wait for MH to make the contest release. Since he changed the contest entry date - I assume any aircraft provided to him prior to his release will be considered the contest entry. Plus, I hope he will release a listing of all the aircraft considered to be entries into the contest no matter if some have been out a while and are in the PlanePack FMv5.3a.

This is where an inclusive listing is neccessary.

mposis,
Sorry, I forgot to say that I didn't include them in the Contest PP because they are already in PP53. They are GREAT planes by the way. Do you want them in the CPP? I am doing this for everyone. If I missed a plane, please tell me.

Screw this crap. What the hell. Razor747, you said all the planes were there. No 109's or 190's? The idea is to judge each plane on an idividual basis and not part of the OPP plane pack. The contest plane pak idea was to put ***every*** entry into a single pack so that just those planes would be judged. It rather well ticks me off that you haven't commented on the mission mission briefs in your 'Contest Pak' not being the problem of the plane builders and only the F4U-1D is in the contest and I don't think that the I-16 was entered (feel free to correct me).

The community does appreciate your efforts, but feel free to read what is going on with the pack prior to posting one. Heck, Poodle had a pack assembled two weeks ago.

Why is Siggi making sense right now?

Well, after that last post, I have decided to take it off my website. I tried to do something for everyone and get shit on for doing it. I NEVER said it was the "OFFICIAL" contest pack. I said in my original message it was for online play so we would NOT have MISMATCHES!!! It also ticks me off that you did not read the BIG BOLD letters under the "Online Additions" section. It CLEARLY states,
quote:
***Some of the Training Mission Briefings do not show up correctly. This is not the fault of the plane maker. It has something to do with SDOE & Par files.***"
Well, no need to worry about it anymore. It is OFF my site as of now. I like helping people, but if I get treated like this for doing something that helps, then maybe I don't need to help anymore.

If anyone would like it, email me at razor747@accessatc.net

Well release it as something else and stop trying to confuse people , buttmunch. Also, feel free to comment on any problems that you know about in the plane pack itself when you start flooding the email channels with it, besides, after judging the planes probably will be updated anyways, release that pack. BTW, want a hanky?

Why would razor have put planes that are already in the current plane pack in the "contest pack" (ie the 109s and 190s) that just would have increased the download and for what? So everyone could have 109 / 190 mismatches because some would have 5.3 without the contest pack and others would have the contest pack which would overwrite the plane pack (because it used higher parfile numbers - then again maybe they would get conflicts because one person installed the parfile with a lower number than the plane pack.

Give Razor a break Whirlwind, the plane pack had the 109s and the 190s in it and people don't need a second copy of them. Somebody takes some initiative to pack up the new planes and everybody dumps on him.

This reminds me of the crap Tailslide took after 5.1 (it's no wonder people don't jump at the opportunity of putting together plane packs).

Thanks Razor for posting it - at least I managed to get the planes updated without having to sort through all the posts to find the most recent version of them all. (I also think Laika should have put his I16 in anyway - he'd wanted it as a contest entry and it deserved to be a part of it.)

Jerry,

To get Japanese in any plane make sure the mission you are flying has the country assigned as Japan - pick a Japanese squadron in the mission editor. This will work for any plane. The contest pack would not have affected this - the zero does not appear in the Japan training section in any release that I have seen - if there is one I'd love to know where to get it.

Razor,

Sorry, I thought it was the contest pack. You don't have to put the 109s and 190s in.

Reminds me of the crap I took after 4, 5, 5.1, and 5.2

Keep the faith Razor! The online conflicts are driving me nuts too.

well, what can I say... to be honest I wouldn't have d/ld the contest pack, yes I was going to, but once all the posts started about this is missing, or thats wrong, well, I pretty much decided it would be a bad move, I do think Razor had the right idea, and lets face it, they need to be put in a pack, I also agree with spin, it wouldn't be a good idea to add the 109's and 190's, for one thing, they have bugs anyway, and agreeing with spin, we have them already... things are bad enough as they are without having identical a/c in different packs..

I really hope this does get all sorted out soon though, cause the way things are going there wont be many votes cast, purely due to all this pissing around with something that was supposed to be a pretty simple thing, you know.. d/l this, d/l that, oh don't use that now, you need this instead.. oh, do I have the right version etc etc etc.

All we want right now as end users and voters is a pack containing the contest entries, the whole contest entries, and nothing but the contest entries ... no patches, extra bits and so on, everything upto date and finished to the best of the makers ability.

Lets hope for a quick ending to all this, I think everyone will agree that this is starting to really nag and piss ppl off (not to say what the makers think of all this), but really Razor, thanks for trying.

Spin, under Japan the Zero has 4 training missions - Landing, Takeoff, Dive Bombing and Air to Air Combat. I don't know why you don't have these. I believe they came with Nations, but maybe with the Zero itself. I don't recall.

It was in the A to A Training Mission that I was getting German and not Japanese, other non-training missions were OK - Siggi comes through loud and clear. I took your suggestion & went into the training mission and assigned a Japanese Squadron. That fixed it thanks.

When I volunteered to do the contest pack so MH would have more time to do other things, I also implied it was going to be done the way he wanted it. It was going to have all and only the planes included in the contest. The pack would work and the original works would look the same in a pack or loaded seperately, all part of the integrity of the plane. I have no problem with someone beating me to the punch. I do have a problem with someone half assing it or releasing packs on their own entitled 'Contest Plane Pack'. How confusing is it going to be to provide tech support when the 'final' contest versions are different across packs. I didn't make a plane, so feel free to support the various versions if you think it is ok. No really, go for it.
I guess he isn't doing anything that Activision hasn't done before.

The contest pack is done, it just need a home. It is the 'zip everything up method', as packing them caused some very undesirable side effects.

Spanky here...

OK, I think that Razor had a great idea. It may have gotten a little messed. I havn't DLed it cause i have all the planes installed right now.

Whirl are you saying you were going to make a pack? where is it?

At least he did somthing instead of just talking about it. No pack will be perfect not with new stuff coming out every day. Its not the plane pack makers fault.

The choice of names may not have been perfect but, What are people supposed to do run it by everyone first? Gotta get the publics approval before doing anything.
what a freaking hassle.
