Oh come on Siggi.. I don't think there can be many disagreements with what I said.. all that work that went into 5.3, and what a load of crap when you compair it to 5.2.. ok great there are extra a/c added.. and blow me down if some don't even work right! But lets face it, it's crap, the short and simple ins and outs of it. Oh I agree with having an "online standard" for planes.. but shit lets try making them as near to 100% first rather than releasing crap and never fixing it.. damn I wish I cuold find that thread that listed all the bugs.. then I could make an identical list of bugs STILL unfixed!

so No, I wont be wasting my time with a 5.4 and I'll flame every single mention of it till 5.3 is sorted out. People here have the balls to critise Parsoft/Inertia about this game.. and on the other hand release stuff as addons to the game that are even worse! Damn we have the code to fix what has been done wrong in 5.3 and yet it's still the same...

Call Parsoft all you want.... but some of those ppl calling them should take a look in the mirror....

I guess you have 2 very simple choices then. Offer to help out and make the "better plane pack" or go play something else. Simple isnt it.

I'm afraid that if you are waiting for improvements to PP 5.3 then I'm afraid you'll be waiting till the release of PP 5.4. Which will have some of the fixes you so much are in need of.

I hope you enjoy B17 2

Yes that good old tried and trusted argument of "Well help or shut up" Sorry don't wash with me.

I'll do what I can when I can, and have been asked to help on a project and am, I do what I'm good at, and even a little more considering Snowy Dover.. oh yes, that had bugs when I released itright? Damn I fixed them, I should've left it like that and done a conpletely new one instead right? My ass.

My Compliments to RONIN.. he fixed all the bugs that were in the Me262 released in the Plane Pack.. I know this because I beta tested the patch for him, and it was 100%.... where's this patch now? Sat on 3 ppls hard drives because it never got released as a patch to the plane pack, not by any fault of RONINs..

No, I think I'll carry on the way I am, help when I can, find mistakes and report them in a none critical way. And kick up a storm when after this long they aren't fixed and there's talk of a completely new one that will undoubtedly cost us all another 12mb d/l., but hopefully with minor bugs (which is all pp5.3 actually has) that will actually get fixed before someone talks about 5.5.. LMAO

Nat,

Do you really think the people making the addons care if you download them or not?

By the way, please vote for the Zero.

Nat,

It's difficult to fix the bugs in 5.3a without creating what is virtually a new pack hence - the 5.4 pack already being discussed.

There is no point in releasing patch after patch with each fix and creating additional confusion.

Spin, peeps could just work on fixing the bugs in 5.3 for like a month or two, and put everything else on hold, just like real programmers do before they release a game (or what this company who made SDOE should have done) and then zip all the bug fixes up and realease them as a patch to 5.3 or 5.3a

Being the bastard that I am, you should wait until at least until the end of judging to release a new plane pack. By then, the most of the creators of the new planes probably will have them out of beta. Imagine releasing the fixed new planes along with the old ones.

Nat,
Don't be an ass!

These problems are being addressed by OPP.
As far as I know, a 5.3b patch is in the works. It will for sure include the 262 fix (which, by the way, can be had at http://www.cs.odu.edu/~ccrambli/sdoe/ - but beware of mismatches and don't say you haven't been warned!)

5.3b may include a Lanc that won't CTD and maybe even have a HUDless bomb sight as an added bonus.

I think the map problem on the 109s should be fixed, but I haven't heard anything on this.

hhhmmmm.. didn't even know that the Zero was in there.. very cool! (although I personaly think it needs a tad more power) It's a wicked a/c, and I use it alot.. ok, as bait for the F4 and P47.. but I use it.. LOL

Hhhhmm.. bugs in the corsair.. to be honest other than different models not showing up in the last release I find it beautiful to fly.. but no "bugs" i.e. everything on the a/c works s I think it should (I think the next actual fix is the Contest Pack)

And Reaper.. I'm very glad to hear that I think I make a valid point if just a little harshly.

The bugs that I personally know of are obviously the map views in the 190's (mentioned) and the 262 sight alignment, which is already fixed. To be honest, the Lanc doesn't CTD with me so I've not seen that one, although it's not an a/c I use very often.

Thankyou all for your input

~Nat~

Oh, btw, if I seam happier now.. well, it's because I got to fly online for the first time since installing 5.3 tonight!!! Yes, It's fixed, my bug is gone!! Took a re-install of windows and SDOE to do it, but it's fixed, no format required

Spanky here..

Nat. I didn't get time to read all this right now. But you do realize that 5.4 would be the fix for 5.3a right? Thats what each one is. 5.4 would be this

Any new planes that seem past beta and arn't going to change anytime soon.

Any New features people can think of.

Any FM tweaks.

I think fixing the DM so all the damage teh planes can take is more balenced.

AND..... Fixing bugs in 5.3. Its not just going to be 5.3a with a couple more planes. Its much more then that.

Nat, there is a few bugs. The cockpit isnt lined up correctly to one side clips through the glass, and when you shoot off a wing with rockets on board, the rockets still float in mid air, even with the wing gone. These minor bugs need to be addressed.

Nat, I'm glad to hear your multiplay bug has gone. I've given up on mine. I can deal with consistent bugs but not one that comes and goes at random. I also installed windows over itself...that's worked for you, all it did for me was stop the modem from crashing everytime I tested SDoE over my LAN.
I know PP5.3 is the cause but it ain't ever going to be pinned down and I no longer care. SDoE is providing the medium by which a lot of guys are developing serious plane-building skills, something that will benefit all of us by the time an improved SDoE engine becomes available.
But, as you say, I think the builders now need to appreciate the need for rigorous testing of their code and how best to consolidate all their creations into solid user-friendly packs. If I was a newbie to SDoE I'd run a mile...the situation is utterly chaotic.
Other than that, keep it coming guys!

Siggi, actually I re-installed windows to a new directory.. ok I meant I had to re-install alot of programs, but it did save a format.. .that I couldn't bear.. all the stuff I've d/l'd, persona; files etc gone... no way.. so instead of installing to c:\windows I installed to c:\win-98 and now the nug is gone.... although I'd still like to know what caused it.....
