Well, I flew online last night for the first time in a while. Several people had problems with plane mismatches. I would like to fix this now. What are the links to the newest version of all the planes. I am making a par file today at work and need to know what should go in it. I will also include several other files. The zip will have the Nations, Startup.ppf, keyboard.ppf, and any other thing that is needed to fly online. I would like to do this as a temp thing until someone puts out a "Official" PP. If this is not wanted, please speak now. I would still like to get all the new Downloads for myself. I would also like to put links on my page to all the new aircraft & other stuff. If you do not want your plane on my page, please tell me. All I want to do is help.------------------ Thanks, James "Razor747" Smith Check out the SDOE Flight Line! I am constantly adding new things. I think you have the Corsairs already, but you might want to check the dates on the files at http://sites.netscape.net/jeditaub/Downloads to make sure you have the current ones. Don't link to the "ParkHog" file. That one's out of date and will cause a mismatch. I have some more updated ones, but they're not ready for prime time yet

Ahem ... The keyboard.ppf would be a bad idea.If this was put into the package it would effective screw everyones "personal" setup ... and I don't know about you, but mine was a pain to get the way it is now! IP: Logged |

This is the plan for the zip file: 1. Combine the current PP & Patch into a Par File 2. Include the Nations Par File 3. Combine all the new contest planes into a Par File 4. Include an updated Startup.ppf file 5. open to suggestions
From my experience in getting all the new stuff, it is hard to find. I have to search all the websites to find the updates. I just want this to make it easy to fly online. If this is not wanted, just tell me. It will be ready tonight, if I get all the links to the new aircraft.

Spanky here.. Some people might argue about including nations. I think it should be in cause some planes need it or can use it. And if you ask me its at the point where it is a need to have thing for online. But people will moan about the DL size. If people have a hard time getting a file cause of its size i suggest you try getright. It rocks. I just got a 80 meg demo over the last 2 nights in my spare time. No prob. I realize its worse for people overseas. But really what can ya do when the addons are getting bigger. Does anyone know of a DLer that in which you can slide the speed down a bit so it doesn't slow down your surfing as much? Like on icq when your transfering a file you can slow it down so you can still surf. That way people in the UK and such can DL it while surfing and just slow it down a bit. It would take longer but then they could just do it while they are already surfing. It still adds up but when your just surfing the forum there is all kinds of time it could be DLing. I guess it just passes the bandwidth to the browser when it needs it though eh. hehe. IP: Logged |

Spanky, I just thought of something else.4 Different Zip File: 1. PP5.3 & PP5.3a combined 2. Nations DL (if they allow me to put it on my page) 3. Contest Planes 4. Everything in one BIG zip file If it is needed, I can split the zip files up into several small ones. I just need the links to the planes by 5pm EST (3 hours from now). I will also need someone to test it quickly, because I am at work on a Laptop. They will all be in different par files. ------------------ Thanks, James "Razor747" Smith Check out the SDOE Flight Line! I am constantly adding new things. Click on image above to go to my site.

Why can't the keyboard file be included Zur? If it's named "blah blah Keyboard" it won't affect your existing one. If someone wants to use it they remove their existing one and delete the "blah blah" to activate the new one. That's what I did to use the F4U Keyboard setup that came with the Corsair pack. ...Siggi,Correct ... However, Razer's button mapping may be entirely different than say mine. So by using his suddenly the buttons I had mapped no longer work! Technically is no biggy to "merge" the two ... but it's more of an inconvienance than anything. I think it would be easier and less confusing to simply include a read.me with instructions and examples of the additional keyboard commands. IP: Logged |

Go!Zilla has a download throttle on it. It also will allow you to restart an interrupted download where you left off (assuming the site you are loading from supports that...(it tells you in advance if a download can be resumed or not....).------------------ Snickers =FC= [This message has been edited by Snickers (edited 03-31-2000).] IP: Logged |

Razor747--We had allowed for those who were on the project to host Nations soley on their sites until March 27...now that that date has passed- I can speak for the team when I say that you (or anyone) are free to put it on your site. There will be additional Nations in the future as they are finished. ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless!

So what's wrong with just continuing to use your own keyboard file and leaving his un-activated? You mean your keyboard file won't work with his planes? Eh?? I'm confused now. Doesn't any keyboard file work with any plane, regardless of how it's been mapped? I know my standard file wouldn't operate any of the new a/c's special functions (canopy etc) but the standard items (wheels, flaps etc) worked as normal. Zur, are you mashed-up or something? Whether or not he includes the file, your file will work exactly the same way regardless. Your first post sounds like you think his file will automatically overwrite your's. It won't. It'll just sit there doing nothing unless you choose to activate it.Jeez, no wonder you can't build an airplane! Do you have somebody turn your computer on and off for you too? Sorry, I'm not going to put a smiley, it would spoil the effect. Damm! IP: Logged |

I have this trouble with my Fiancee all the time... it's great you wanting to put all this stuff into one "Mega Download" but please.. do us all the favor of remembering that we're not all living in the USA, and don't get 500 free local calls a month, or even have cable modems etc... we're stuck on at best ISDN, more likely 56K modems, have to pay for our calls, yes, every single one... and that we can't afford having our connection to the net lagged to death by a download that will take all of a weeks for us.Give us a break, or atleast, spare us a little thought... nice idea.. totally impracticle.. even if we do go out and download it for the week, do you think the more casual passer by looking for SDOE stuff is going to be interested in this, I think not. This isn't a flame in anyway, cause I do think it's a quaint idea.. just think of us less fortunate that those of you in the US. IP: Logged |

Spanky here... Snickers- Sounds good. The wacky thing about sites being able to resume. I use get right and it says if you can resume or not, but I have always been able to resume. Even if it says it wouldn't.

It is ready for me to upload now. Everyone of the zip files are 2.88mb each. What I did:1. Everything in one BIG zip file 25.4mb (9 files) 2. PP53B 8.9mb (4 files) 3. Contest Planes 10.6mb (4 files) 4. Nations 7mb (3 files) Nat, I didn't forget anyone. I am only on a 56k modem myself I made them several files so everyone will be able to DL the one they need They were made with WinAce and it includes an EXE file so you don't have to have WinAce to unzip them. Just click on the EXE file and type
x:\fighter squadron\media\ It will place them in the correct place for you. My keyboard file is not included. Look for the Link to the DLs in about 2 hours ------------------ Thanks, James "Razor747" Smith Check out the SDOE Flight Line! I am constantly adding new things. ...Siggi,Ya silly git ... The keyboard.ppf (as you know) defines what keys and joystick buttons doe "what". I have "mine" customized to specific buttons ... as I'm sure Razer has "his" customized to. If "I" use "his" startup.ppf (or a modified original).. It will be a pain in the ass, because the buttons "I" rely on "may" be mapped differently! ...Sheez, and you call yourself an educated man. No, I have never called myself an educated man. Aware, self taught yes. Lol.Bollocks to your keyboard file, I don't care anymore. I'm busy putting my web-site together. Would you like to see it? It's very un-finished as I'm a newbie-webber. It's where all our kills and medals will be displayed. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~jv44sig/ Nice! Agree if you know what's good for you Zur. Heap praise upon me, give me lots of encouragement, it's very tiring work. IP: Logged |
