I saw a thread about the damage bug in Hedgehog's tourney post. I was going to respond there but thought I'd post separately to avoid getting off topic.

I highly recommend people to try adjusting their DesiredSimRate = 20 (default) to a lower value such 13 - 15 (in the sDemons.ini file). This has imo had a dramatic effect on reducing lag effects for me in online missions. (Both positive and negative benefits to me - easier to kill and be killed - and I don't believe it provides an unfair advantage).

Unfortunately it's still difficult to tell how much of an effect it has on the damage bug without more testing. I believe it has been reduced for me, but without knowing who else is running at the same setting it's difficult to evaluate peer to peer effects.

However, the biggest benefit is more consistent flight speeds in tight formation - if your wingman is running fps below 20 he will lose distance to you even if his posted speed is identical. By lowering the DesiredSimRate he will not lose distance unless his fps drops below the simrate value he has set.

I have had no adverse effects as a result of this change and have been using it for several weeks online.

I turned down my desiredsim rate and noticed no increase in my FPS at all. It appeared to have a reverse effect, lowering my fps more than it was????

sometime i would red out cause it was so crazy

Kopper its not supposed to help your FPS its supposed to lower the minimum FPS your computer needs to get and no warp
