I remember Dan addressing this earlier in the week and I think I am correct in saying that the canopy frame on the P-47 currently cannot be painted. I agree that most 'Superbolts' had unpainted canopy frames however, some groups did use a coloured canopy as a group recognition mark. I have almost finished a very nice 405FG example and as you can see the canopy frame should be red. Therefore if 'Team Jug' has the time could they give us the option to specify the colour (a simple single colour texture would suffice). Although I have said it before this is a joy to fly and look at. I am a Thunderbolt man though and through and I just love this one. So JT is it going to be an early model D next (razorback) pretty please ------------------ Yardstick painted this

You can paint the canopy seperate. I told JT to make it like this just for the specific reason you mentioned. Just look at the attached file If you want to change the spinner, its above the canopy spot. IP: Logged |

Yardstick,If you think it will help, I still have the original 'blue print' tiffs that JT used to texture map the plane in max...they leave out a few things, but have all of the obvious stuff on them. I can post to my site or in here if you like. IP: Logged |

Thanks, Dan. I had tried a few obvious areas but didn't look at the above area.Snake - I can't claim the credit for the model. I found the pic over at Hyperscale. ------------------ Yardstick painted this

Sorry, a lot of the texture areas on the tifs aren't very self evident. The canopy frame is one of those areas you'd never find unless someone tells you where it is. Anyway, the left square in the area that Dan has circled is the front section of the canopy frame and the right square is the back section. The two squares are both just color patches... you won't be able to paint any sort of detail on the canopy frame. The two squares will not affect the inside frame, of course. I just assigned a grey color to the inside frame because it would have taken forever to map detail on to it. When I get a chance, I will probably go back and map the inside frame since I have some left over room on some of the tifs. IP: Logged |
