One thing just crossed my mind. There are NO cords on the parachute! Will this ever get fixed? It look kinda stupid in my opinion, just a man bobbing there with out any strings attached. Another thing that crossed my mind, has anyone ever though about fixing the clipping problem where if you bail out, you go straight through the ground?!? I would like to see a pilot squash on the ground and leave a blood pool or something. It would do the WWI plane man Dirk a very interesting visual. Just a few thoughts running through my brain... It would be neat though, right? Ok, I'll shut up now.

It has just come to light that modeling the death of a WWI pilot is not a very good idea. So scratch the blood part. Maybe he could just hit the ground instead of clipping through it? I am just sick of bailing out of any plane and watching the pilot clip through it.

Hey ArgonV ! Thats pretty easy. Download some tools and read some tutorials, buy some sixpacks of your favorite beer and start workin. One Tip: Never ever open the pilot sm.file in OPS, cause there it gets completly crazy corrupted (in my case). So maybe you would do the work directly in the .asc file. If you run into problems post your questions to the tech talk and you will surely get some help.

Thats not to flame you or anyone else !!!

But I think we definitly need more "tech people" for all the stuff that needs to be fixed or created.

Good idea ?

Have fun !

ArgonV, I will try and put some contact points on the pilot to see if that works.

I suggested to Zoy that we have a damage lod for the pilot when shot. You know blood on his uniform. He did not like that either. I really respect him for that.

No I get that too Laika. OPS corrupts the parachute properties (tacks them on the wrong part of the file). What I do is save one of the pilots from the 5.3 pack, extract it, open that .asc file, and then copy the lines pertaining to the "obFunc Flyboy."

Then I do whatever I need to with OPS, save that file, extract IT, and paste in the Flyboy lines from the "good" pilot file. That restores the parachute properties to their proper place.

The DVII guys have their pilot all "wired up" for damage, but you also need to define some damage functions in the aircraft itself to trigger the pilot damage from fire, etc. I think at some point we need to come up with a "standardized" pilot damage routine. A bullet is a bullet, after all.

I've got an animated Corsair pilot just about finished, which would be easy to convert to the "non-oxygen masked" US and German pilots. The ones with the masks would take a bit longer, but I'll get around to em.

Laika, I started to post in your other thread but did not know how to help you. Follow jedi's advise. He knows what he is talking about.

Good information jedi.

thanks jedi !

I think this is not my work, I took a look at the .asc file for the pilot and didnīt understand anything ! Now the pilot works for me but I changed nothing than the switchins in the lod files. Pilot hit detection is done in the main sm file (via the pilot object). Only problem till now is when I fly into flak fire somehow the pilot gets killed without saying outsch, and the view did not turn to red. I dont know why !

The new beta is up for hours now and I still get no response/posts (execpt lfbpro). I canīt test the damage modell all alone.

LK (a bit disappointed)

Laika, I'd love to, but I'm away from my main computer all weekend ( this is my parents slow, cumbersome model)
