WWI Contest Planepack Posted

In order to make testing and flying the WWI contest entries, there is now a WWI planepack. This is not the first "official" WWI pack, but it will mike life much easier for those who want to test drive these aircraft on-line.

You can download it at the FSHangar here: http://www.fshangar.com/files/ww1_pack.zip

It is a 14 meg download.

Thanks Razer!

You can also download it at the OpenPlane WWI site (see my signature)

You can also view the readme here: http://www.schoolmusic.com/chickencoop/openplane_wwi/readme.txt

Umm, if it includes the DVII, its not the correct Version for the Contest release.

Also I didnt really want the DVII available else where at this time. Now there will be version conflicts. It's alot easier for damage control if the only version available is the most current one

Ah the joys of a totally unfinished game!
If I download the WW1 Contest Plane pack how can I overwrite the DVII? Please don't say anything complicated ie. editing
I have the newest (I think) DVII and if I just reinstalled it wouldn't that work?

This contest has been poorly run in my opinion. No-one knows exactly how many planes, how to vote what versions are up and blah blah blah.

Since the contest date has been pushed back to the 26th, the official contest version of the DVII will be sent to MH on that date.

So Snake to answer your question, yes you can simply overwrite any exsisting version of the DVII.

Sorry guys! I thought the contest entry date had past!

I will remove it from the site, Razer?

I thought someone else made this decision, I was under the impression that this was the "official" contest pack and the WW2 guys were planning on inclding the WWI planes in their pack pack - they asked me to do a seperate WWI contest pack because they know we will have our own par number in the future and our own WWI pack.

So we will re-release this pack when the contest entry date is up with the latest versions? Or will there be no contest pack? So Zoy, are you saying you never want the DVII part of a pack? (for now at least maybe?) This is cool if that is the case, I just didn't know. It is nice to be able to release your plane on your time schedule, so I understand.

Does this mean I can improve my aircraft for the contest still?

I am very confused. Sorry about this. The last thing I want to do is release someone's plane when they don't want it to be!

Who can help me? What needs to be done here?

Thanks,
-Sv

Heya,

The DVII in the above pack isnt the version that will be submitted to MH on the 26th. So to have a DVII at 2 places will no doubt cause version conflicts.

Here is what I heard last:
___________________________________________
MH said
"3) The deadline for final entry is Sunday March 26. By Midnight (CST, -6 GMT) you should have uploaded your plane to lynx or sent me an email telling me where to download your entry.

I will take all the entries and package them up into one pack which can be used for review and judging by the public at large."

I suppose that you could just update the pack after the 26th Also shouldnt the WWI Contest Pack be located at the OP WWI site instead of the Hangar? Also keep in mind that after the Voting period has expired we have still a few more updates we will be making to the DVII.

So really the DVII isnt ready to be included in a pack, just yet. We for sure will have it ready by the time the WWI Plane Pack is ready to be packaged

As far as what the WWII guys are doing I have no idea. This is news to me

We had this same problem with the Nations project. Poor comunication between the involved parties caused undo problems.
As this I think was the case here.

Dont sweat it, but I would wait to see what happens befroe doing a WWI contest pack.

Yeah, if MH packages up ALL of the contest planes and makes a "Contest Plane Pack" I think this would be best. That way somebody who wasn't originally interested in WWI planes, for example, couldn't opt not to get them. I think it would be very unfair to judge the planes when you have not looked at all of them.
