It is still in Alpha...but we are dedicated to seeing her be completed. We are revamping the team a bit (hopefully!) by adding some new blood and despite our pride so far at what has been done feel it is nowhere near releaseable condition. Your patience will be rewarded- despite our inability to release it for the contest. IP: Logged |

Hey, if you need any more help, let me know. The Dauntless has been one of my favorites since I read a book called "Flight Deck" in the 4th grade!

I was pretty bummed that we coundn't get it finished, but I guess it's also good, because nothing on it will be rushed now. And it WILL be finished.

Jag has been working very hard (too hard!) to get the Dauntless where it is at now...and it really is fun to fly. But it is a real bitch...there is a lot of detail to be done (have you seen those perforated holes in the dive flaps!!!) We've been fortunate to have many help out so far (Tail, Razer, and many others which I have no right to forget...sorry!) along with a couple of vets I was fortunate enough to meet up with online- one was a crew chief on the Enterprise CV-6 during the Battle of Midway! We are now trying to get a team together to get her where she should be- available to you guys...and some truly great modelers have signed on... so be patient (I'm probably the most anxious here....I was the one who demande... I mean suggested OPPs do the SBD5). If you want to be a part- please let either Jag or I know!IP: Logged |

The Dauntless.... A wolf in wolfs clothing... steer well clear of this one!! Do not, I repeat Do Not try takin this Baby on.. unless you really hate the one your in, cause it'll get shreded... There are some small issues left to be sorted out.. handling is a problem.. but not for the AI, so I was well able to test how it fights.. all settings on full, and skill on full, took up the P80 against it... I didn't last long, you fly by it, try to get on the Daunts tail.. and all the while that tail gunner is pounding you with twin 50's !! This is gonna be one cool Baby to have... and a nasty piece of work to fight against... You might think you can come in under the tail.. so the gunner can't get you... well, anyone tries that with me.. I'll just invert and break.. leaving the gunner to carry on pounding at you...Look out for this one in the very near future I think... Your gonna love flyin it.. but hate comming up against it!

Couldn't have said it better myself...except one little thing- those twin .50's in the rear gun should be twin .30's-- don't know if they got changed or not...I forget! Jag...a little help here?IP: Logged |

The rear guns are 30. cals. They have a higher ROF than most other guns, so they are deadly. IP: Logged |

you may not believe this, but I lay in bed last night thinking about this, and got rather annoyed wih myself about it.. LOL, I even dug out the data on the SBD..
2 .5 inch (12.7mm) machine guns forward and 2 .3inch (7.62mm) in the dorsal potition What I didn't realise (or notice while inside) was that it's top speed was only 255mph... but hell, who cares, no-ones gonna be stupid enough to tangle with this Baby.. IP: Logged |

Now that looks alot more like the Diving Dauntless!The first couple screens grabs I saw ( probably just the angle of shot) had me believing for a second I was starring at the
