Well we have a ton of stuff going on ,although I'm not involved, there is as you mentioned a contest currently running or finished I'm not sure but SDOE has been through a couple of face lifts. Listed below are the downloads you will need to meet up on-line.1. Orig install CD
2. 1.5 patch or 1.5.1 build 65 Beta, it's up to you. The new build gives you night missions and some other cool stuff.
3. Plane pack 5.3
4. Plane pack 5.3a patch
From here you will be set up to run on-line
You may need the new Corsair and the Zero not sure, most seem to have these A/C on-line.
There has been a 'Nations Project' to build up the current countries in SDOE I think we now have Japan, Italy and Russia.
This project includes A/C, squadrons, voices etc.
There is also a WWI project that seems to have produced some wonderful A/C.
After this you can search around for different planes.
All in all the guy's that do the work have been keeping busy and have done a fantastic job in keeping the sim up and it's content unmatched, in my opinion by any other sim currently out there.

Hosting is at UK1 server on sunday's and right now because of server problems at calif12 you will just need to jump into the different arena's and find people. (use Tailslides software to see when people are on line ready to shoot you down).
