We submitted our Fokker DVII late. Well, we started with a different version that we had been working on. It was not the one we had planed to send. So we tried testing it and it had problems. Zoycite and I worked franticly to try and fix it. We finally got the new version up to standard but submitted it late.

If this disqualifies us from the contest that is ok. We had a great time and appreciate all the comments from you guys.

If disqualified would we lose anything? No, we have gained a nice plane, we learned a lot and will put our learning into the next plane we build. Hope this ends our Midnight Nightmare. LOL

The version we submitted did have the upper wings fixed. As Chuck Holden and Spanky pointed out they were about 10 inches too high. We have also updated the download at The War Paint Factory.

Well hell, if it was a few weeks late I would understand that but a day or two? It would be a mean mutha to knock you out of the contest.
If it happens, we'll drop cows on MH's house.
Have faith.

This is no big deal Raider,

MH has stated that we should be uploading today anyway. This is so not an issue.

Just make sure we are clear of what version is correct. Make sure that the correct verison is the only one at FTP site.

Everyone else OK with this? Let's not get silly here

Raider, I think you will be allowed special dispensation in this case.

Hey, it's no big deal buddy. At least I don't think so.

Good Luck buddy!

No, a day or two shouldn't matter.

We've only got seven entries so far. See the contest section for more info and happenings.

I think we probably need a "moratorium" of some sort on new versions with new features, etc, so guys have a "reasonable" length of time to evaluate.

BUT, what if your plane "doesn't work" for some folks? I'd hate to see somebody knocked out on a technicality when all they did was release a new file with a typo fixed or something so that it doesn't CTD any more.

Planes that have been out in various forms for a while, like the Corsair, DVIII, I-16 and of course all the 109s and 190s have kind of a built-in advantage, since everyone has had a chance to play with em, and I'm sure we've gotten subconscious "bonus points" for each thing we've fixed or added. Shouldn't a plane like the Hurricane or P-47 or DVII, released on the eve of the contest, have a few days of "grace" to make sure they have a "flyable" contest version?

I reckon as long as MH accepts the submission and puts it up for votes, that version is fair game. Who is this approach "unfair" too? Really only those guys who released betas or had "polished" products out there already, like the Zero or the 5.3 planes. Do they mind? Have to ask them I'd say, but I'd just as soon face the "best" version of the competition.

Obviously, this could get out of hand. Last day to vote is the 31st, and you need to have enough time for folks to evaluate the planes, but I for one would rather see the Wildcat in the contest in patched-up form on the 29th than see it withheld because Falck and Co. couldn't put up a version they were happy with.

Different spin on the "rules" I guess, but just not that big a deal IMO. I certainly don't feel that anything uploaded today or yesterday is out-of-line enough to worry about

On the other hand, some people chose to release betas early to allow the community to work out the bugs. Others chose to build in secret and didn't give the community the chance to test for bugs. That was their choice and they should live with it.

Technical bug fixes which affect install or compatibility problems should be allowed. Anything that improves looks, FM, or adds features shouldn't, IMO.

What if everyone adds patches on the last day of voting? There has to be a cut off.

Thanks for the support guys. We would have no porblem standing behind the original version we released on Sunday. The only differnece with the submitted version is that we lowered the wings 10 inches.

We used an older version to do this and it was missing the wing dof's for wing stress. We had a bit of Midnight Madness trying to add them and get them back to an acceptable level.

The new submitted version just looks better (Top wings in the right place)but it still flies the same. I want the RB3D boys to be happy with our WW I planes.

Thanks again guys

Really glad you could get it in Raider I agree, there haven't been as many entries as I think we all hoped, but those that are here really are great! Just glad you could make the big squeeze and set it in there

Nice one Raider
