I haven't tried that (subbing an airfoil) because I really need to get some sleep. But that's a good idea if you can't wait to fly it.(No longer relevant - see above.) [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 03-20-2000).] IP: Logged |

Spanky here... ok its working hi res cockpit and non. the tail is fine in game( i was seeing a prob in OPS) and the frame rate doesn't seem to be any lower with the hi res cockpit couple problems The artificial horizon and compass are messed in hi res cockpit(in glide unsure about D3D) the FPS is low in both. Around the same. I'm getting 16 and in most of the other planes i get at least 25 out side looking really close at the front i'm getting 26-30 Yep just checked. i get 26-30 in the pit of the BF109G6 and 50-55 right close up front. I realize you went a little higher poly. I'm just letting you know. No flying this puppy online for me. Low res cockpit or not. upgrade coming soon to make the hi res cockpit even better i would say find some other textures you already have in to use on the floor or steal some space off another tiff so you can use more. It doesn't fit with the clean look of the rest of the pit. also the box on the left looks a little washed out too. . Crankshaft He's reuploading it right now with a new file name. I think some router or your isp might have cached the old file so it you keep getting the old file instead of the new fixed one. That was happening to me. You have ICQ? my icq # is 3080656

Will one of you guys write me an excuse for work today? O.K. I got it, and it's as good as I had hoped. The attention to detail by Team Jug is amazing. This is the best looking plane in SDOE IMHO. I was in the Takeoff traing mission and was flying in an exterior view, just looking at the beauty. I circled the field and came down for a landing, but as I was using a forward view (yeah, thats it) I brought it down rather hard. The wheels flew off, and it bounced up, as it came down the struts sunk through the ground. I effectively belly landed, with no further dameage to the struts. Did you forget to do that OP voodoo to that area? Anyway, thats all I noticed on my first go around, more later. Great, great work! JT- i haven't tried the plane yet since i'm stuck at work and the boss looks down on it unless we are flying on the LAN. The prop tiff looks like the one i redid for the Spit IX. Is this the case? If so i think it needs to be redone since the one with the spit IX was done in 32 sec. and sucks. I'm going to redo the one for the spit IX for the next pack and i could also make one for the Jug , just so they are different. Razer IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. I was looking under the hood a bit. Its looking pretty cool. Loving the use of the OBprob. (think i go that right) Can't wait to see it in action. I was wondering guys. Some of that Engine rpm and horsepower, and fuel consumption stuff didn't look like it was caused by damage but just by odds. Is it a damage thing or did you make it reflect the reality of not everyone having quite the same planes?

Visually stunning and mechanical genius. Great work gentlemen! Raider 33rd~GS Here is to the Jug Team. Cheers!

Agas,No hangar mission? I'm sure we had one. I'll look into it. Is it concidered cheating if it indeed is missing and we add it today when uploading? Razer, Unfortunately you're right, it is indeed the spit IX fast prop. Time, you know... Spanky, Raider, There are two kinds of obProb's in use. The ones for engine power and RPM, and also for strength of all damage DOFs and total aircraft weight, are there to reflect differences in individuals. After all, the planes weren't 100% identical. Some differences were there from the factory, others introduced due to wear, tear and repair. The loadout.ppf also has a 10% chance for each bomb to be a dud. Then there are the obProb's that are activated due to damage. Is the bullet that hits the wing the lucky one that causes the ammo belt to explode, or a gun to jam? PR, Gear struts falling through the ground? Hmmm. I was sure I'd added those obBodyPts, but then I'm not a very good friend with them, so I probably messed it up. Just how hard was that landing? I never managed to do that, I had to resort to shooting the wheels off in slew mode. There'll be more later on. There's only so much you can do within the narrow timeframe. _ /Bjorn. IP: Logged |

Spanky,Well, this is speculation on my part, since I don't know how SDOE is written, but they're no rookie programmers, so it's probably at least as good as this: All obProb's should be calculated when the plane is first instantiated, so if there's an onDmg 1 (obProb (1 (obExplode))), and the random number generator says we're at this 1%, it'd be translated to onDmg 1 (obExplode), before the game even starts. If it is this way, there's absolutely no runtime penalty to all these obProb's at all, although it would take a slightly longer time to startup a game (so slight, I doubt it can be measured by a human.) _ /Bjorn. Spanky, We'll see how it goes... if lot's of people have frame rate issues, I could always replace the highest level LODs with the second level, which are still pretty decent looking, albeit less detailed. The thing that's different about this plane is that it has a set of high detail LODs that switchin when the plane is 40 to 60 feet away.... the idea being that no one would ever be that close to more than one P-47 for very long.... especially in battle. The landing gear also add a lot of complexity, but once retracted, they shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, if you're checking out frame rate in external view, and you're zoomed in as tight as can be, then you're basically getting the full nelson. If you zoom out even a little bit, though, those heavy LODs switch out. Because the plane switches to simple LODs a lot sooner, you will notice that as you zoom out, the framerate may even be better than default SDOE planes. Even so, in the cockpit, the plane may just be a bit much for your system (I think you mentioned that you're on a p233 with Voodoo Banshee?). On my system, frame rate isn't a problem-- even when using the heavy cockpit-- but I am interested in other people's frame rate issues, so I will try to respond.... this is, after all, the first itteration of this plane. :-)[This message has been edited by JT (edited 03-20-2000).] IP: Logged |
