Well, the gang's all here... You can get 'em here... http://sites.netscape.net/jeditaub/Downloads and hopefully at www.fshangar.com and www.fightersquadron.com/flightline when Razer and Razor spot this (Thought I'd spare you guys the email this time--pretty big files; put em up at your leisure if you can...) OK, there's 6 files there, and a readme. The one called F4Upack.zip contains all four airplanes, in their newest versions. It's 3Meg or so. You can download the individual aircraft files if you prefer, but you should get the F4u1D.zip first--it contains the common textures, pilot, squadrons, etc. The "Parkhog.zip" is an older version of the Corsair with wings folded--not yet updated with new FM, but still usable as a target (not included in the F4Upack). OK, have fun. Gotta go download about 10 airplanes and play with em ------------------ --jedi-- [This message has been edited by jedi (edited 03-19-2000).] [This message has been edited by jedi (edited 03-19-2000).] IP: Logged |

I got it too, got round it by shortening the URL line by taking off the /Downloads and that takes you to Jedi's homepage , download link is on that page. Good luck I'm downloading now.IP: Logged |

Man, these are great! One thing though, I am getting two "F4U1-D" showing up in both Training and Hangar. The first one works fine but the second one CTDs every time. I noticed that the "F4u" directory and the "F4u1" directory both have the same .sm file... ? Thought maybe it had something to do with having the older beta, but I deleted everything including hangar/training missions and Hangar art and reinstalled from F4Upack.I'm just a little bit confused, thanks! -=TheReaper=- IP: Logged |

R-man. From the looks of it, the F4u birdcage is supposed to take the place of the F4u1. Is that right Jedi? I edited the loadout.ppf file in the F4u folder as the path goes to the F4u1 picture. In the loadout.ppf of F4u where it says F4u1 change that to F4u and you'll get the birdcage picture. I've tried placing the birdcage files into the F4u1 folder, but all I get are the textures, no birdcage canopy.

Doing that did make the Birdcage pic show up in the hangar... but I still get a CTD. Can't figure out why either, it CTDs when it gets to "Targets" on the checklist. All of the other variants seem to work fine. Is this the same model, but just a different skin of the F4u1-d?-=TheReaper=- IP: Logged |

D'oh! I feel so foolish!I put the WRONG .sm file in for the birdcage! Get thee back to my site: http://sites.netscape.net/jeditaub/Downloads and get the file called FixF4u.Zip. Unzip it into your media/aircraft/f4u folder. The F4U -1 individual zipfile is also now good. The main file should be good after 1900 EST. I don't know when or if the Flightline or Hangar sites will have the fix up... Really sorry about that, guys. One little mistake... Yes, the birdcage is a different model, but not a lot different. Canopy and fuselage, engine power, weight, and weapons load are different. ------------------ --jedi-- [This message has been edited by jedi (edited 03-19-2000).] IP: Logged |

OH YEAH! Delete the f4u1.sm file from your media/aircraft/f4u directory. The name of the .sm file for the birdcage is f4u.sm. The name of the AIRPLANE is F4U-1. The name of the .sm file for the Jolly Rogers Corsair is f4u1.sm, but the name of THAT airplane is F4U-1D.I outsmarted myself, obviously

Well, I'm gonna have to get a better Quality Control guy Found another incorrect file. If you downloaded any Corsair stuff prior to 2230 EST, you have the wrong files for the "birdcage" Corsair. The fix is posted at: http://sites.netscape.net/jeditaub/Downloads The file is called FixF4U.zip. It replaces the .sm file and the loadout.ppf file for the F4U-1 (not the F4U-1D--that one's fine). The "names" of all the files are correct--you shouldn't need to change any. The actual FILES in the F4U folder are incorrect. I put duplicates of the F4U-1D in there by mistake. Chances are you haven't seen the Birdcage yet, even if you've somehow got whatever is in the F4U folder working. If you haven't downloaded the Corsairs yet, then wait until at least midnight EST, and the proper files will be up, and you won't need the FixF4U.zip (I hope) Again, sorry for the confusion... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Jedi, heres a strange, I didn't get the Royal navy bird. Any ideas, I got the fix and all three others are fine but no RNF4u. Also maybe I'm getting ahead of things but last night we tried to write the F4u into an online mission and couldn't. The mission came up with all the other planes except anything to do with the F4u. ??? My hats off to you guys..........errr....... there goes my Elvis wig... Thanks Psi

hehehe well you brightened up an otherwise dismal evening of battling the ftp gods. You'll want to go back and download the PatchF4U.zip file. This will make it so all the little Hogs can play with each other in a mission and be the correct planes, and also fixes the VF-17 and VMF-214 squadron files. I'll probably take the individual files off the site for now and re-upload them tomorrow. The main pack will be corrected tonite, and the patch should bring anything earlier up to date. The full pack is also available at the contest site http://lynx.inertiagames.com/contest ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |
