In the months since I started this project, I've discovered a great appreciation for Soviet aircraft designs.. despite being low cost and easy to produce they had brilliant designs that performed well. Definitely a case of doing a lot with a little! The Yak-3 was one of the lightest, smallest fighters of the war. It has poor performance above 15,000 feet but is very fast and manouverable at low altitude. The wooden construction meant it was not quite as durable as the Yak-9. I'm happy to report none of these qualities were lost in it's 'virtual' rebuilding. I could easily spend years on just this one aircraft.. but it's reached a point where it is 'good nuff' for everyone to have fun with. I hope you have as much fun flying it as I did building it !

DanW. I think you downloaded a special file I gave Tail because you are here playing with other people's planes, while we have to wait to play with your (+JTs) beautiful plane.  Oh, the torture!
Just kidding 
The readme folder that came with the Yak-3 says the latest planepack and Nations are required. Do you have those installed? Other than that, just re-check all of the folders from the download and make sure they went to the same folders in your FS directory. I was too lazy to dl the nations add on right now. And just changed the country of the plane. Somewhere.hehe Ah in the loadout file. I can fly it just fine after that.

I've been testing it online all afternoon together with Moose_EAF322. Dogfights, formation flying, she's handling it all perfectly!!! This is a flying dream for me! The engine sound is also very cool! Doesn't anyone have any start and off sounds? Again Tailslide, thank you for this perfect plane! It really made my day!Cya! Ash IP: Logged |

She's a beauty! Gonna be a LOOOONG downloading day for me--I don't have the Wildcat or Tony or Rata yet either! Plus I have my own little package to post up  If she flies anything like the Warbirds Yak-3, that's gonna be a formidable foe... ------------------

Man I flew the Air-to-Air today and got her in quite a fight...just about to finish off the 109- but wasn't paying attention (it was 6AM after all ) Talk about a spin-- I tried everything, but could not recover-- she really is a sweet plane. And it looks like I'll have to choose what skins to fly for now until Spyder gets Chameleon updated- I love my good buddy Zoy's skin!! Quite a piece of work...and Elric's skin is representative of one of my favorite Yak skins-- with the knight killing the snake skin- Maj. Gen Zakharov's famous bird. Thanks guys!IP: Logged |

Sweet. My "Normandie-Niemen" squadron now has its plane.DOH! I wanted to give them an historical opponent, loaded GC, chose Yardstick's eastern front Emil scheme... and blammo, erased the spanish 109 skin I had made . Like it had never existed. Morality: when you're done, post your work. Other's people hard drives are the best backup media But to the point, this Yak is cool, and a really great addition to the game. She is a fine little aircraft, excellent lo-
alt fighter and with its accuracy doesn't seem to need a lot of ammunition.
As I said last night tail, you've done a fine

Looks great! I feel kinda bad not getting the Viper done, but everytime I turned around, it had 'issues', the biatch . Now we can do those 'number' SU missions where we can pit 10 Mig-3's with near lowest pilot settings against 4-5 109's with mid-high pilot settings for more realistic combat on the Eastern Front. This is by no means a knock at your work Tail. I love the Yak! I even sent a screen of it to my brother. He keeps saying he's going to get with SDDOE.Anyway, the shadow....these things must be the toughest things to make with a plane. Seems like they all flicker, and are missing in places. Like I said.. good 'nuf.. theres no way to edit shadows with OPStudio except manually changing the coordinates and looking at the results by trial and error. I figured the time was better spent putting the final touches on the FM and DM. Once this feature gets added to OPS i'll update the plane and release it as version 2 along with a more detailed cockpit and gear that I'm working on.
Laika... how does Laika and Tailslide's Russian bomber factory sound?

Excellent job Tail! I really like that interior. It's a nice color change from the green we are all so used to. For some reason though the highest level wheels aren't texturing correctly for me.Other than that I really like it. The shape almost reminds me of an air racing plane. IP: Logged |

Tailslide, You da man. Flying this thing feels like I am in a real plane. That amazing cockpit. I never expected to see one look so real. I really like the blue gauges. Just like the Pictures I have seen.Thanks for giving us such a grand plane that was baddly needed in SDOE. And Thank you for helping us. Your input is valued more than you know. Hi Pete, long day at work today The wheels show up fine on my computer, not sure what could be causing that? On another note, I finally got to try out the p47. Flies like a brick tied to another brick.. perfect! Crosswind landing training mission is my fave. I kept trying the 'skip bombing' training mission but I can't get the bombs to skip.. is there a trick to it? TS

I have tryed and tryed to get this plane to fly but every time i get to the cockpit it CTD on me I know it's me because you all have yours up and away. I think it might be with the airfoil directory, you see i have no such directory I was loading another new plane and it says to delete that directory so the plane can fly in the internet. Any helpful hints? Thanks you guys are the best!IP: Logged |

Von - As I know the Yak didnīt uses a new airfoil (like the Huricane or the I16). Make sure you have the great "Nations" addon and Planepack 5.3 installed!Hope this helps ! IP: Logged |
