Anyone know whats up with the servers? Call me paranoid, but if they're shutting them down on us, I'll be a very unhappy camper Esox =(lonely)= IP: Logged |

Yeh Esox, I noticed that last night. No activity whatsoever on any of the servers. I could see the servers, but not the lobbies.------------------ MadMoe=FC= IP: Logged |

I wasn't able to get in either. Not only that, but the ICQ ActiveList seems to be down (I can't connect and I'm not in invis mode). Also, since Razer is moving fshangar, the OPP forum is currently down as well. All of this, just in time for the contest! =Þ-=TheReaper=- IP: Logged |

I host the ICQ server and the ICQ software has this wonderful habit of shutting down every once in awhile and needs to be started up. Spanky and I can do this but we need another person.. preferably someone who's online a lot and wouldn't mind installing the activelist manager addon for ICQ. TS IP: Logged |

Hopefully, no one laughs too hard when I say this- but I have used Kali pretty effectively in the past- with very little lag. So if the servers truly are toast, we could organize some sort of time to meet and set up our own SDOE room there. Just a thought...IP: Logged |

As a possible backup/alternative when the servers are down, it seems to be possible to use Kali (for those that have it, of course). As as test, I successfully created a SDOE game lobby and both the IPX and TCP protocols seem to work. More testing is in order, though, since I didn't have anyone try to joint in .... anyway, just a suggestion.--- elf IP: Logged |

Esox, yes me Spin, Hound Dog, and the new guys were on igateway. If you use the alarm feature on my server list and keep the browser window minimized you'll hear a plane flying overhead when people are online. TS

Spanky here... I'm not into Kali since i only play this one game online. And it won't be easy to get new players if they have to do that. Tail i have to resetup the active list software. So its just you for now. A 3rd sounds good though. Maybe Razer? He on almost as much as me. hehe. It didn't seem to just be off though It would give a message saying somthing like " you are not authorized to join active list chat." Even though no one was trying to chat. IP: Logged |

If it came down to finding a location, could we use HEAT? I hear its free...I could be wrong. I NEVER pay to play. If we loose the online lobbies, I'll only be playing IP to IP or IPX. IP: Logged |

It would take a code change to use HEAT.Kali has come up before. One big advantage I see to using it is that people flying other sims will see that SDOE is being flown. That's because all of the various sim pilots can share the same chat lobby if they choose. It's a one-time $20 price to purchase this shareware program. Some would call that "pay for play" but I think it's a reasonable price. Just my minuscule opinion. In the meantime, Michael is trying to shake some firm info out of Activision about their servers. Thanks for the info Mighty. It's good to know that no matter what Activision does, we can still continue online. I dont know what I'd have done....re-aquaint myself with my family, actually get some work done.......Nah! Esox=FC= IP: Logged |

Kali works great for SDOE! Though I have only flown with 2 in a game, it was very smooth. I have queried about flying SDOE on the ww2 server# 182 on kali and thought I was going to be run out of town on a rail (lot of EAW pilots there) Maybe its time things change? There is also server# 631 Thats where you will find me usually.Regards, Crank IP: Logged |

Spanky here.. Even though it might only be $20US thats more like $27-$30 CA. And how do you pay? Credit card? DOn't have one. And thats an obstical to getting new players to buy the game. Yeah you have to order the game online somewhere and wait for it. Then you have to load the 1.5 patch and 5.3 PP don't forget the PP5.3a patch. then send your $20-$30 off to registar for Kali. THEN you can finally fly online.

Activision's stocks have been goin' down recently, so maybe the boss is finding the new funds for his company Porsch. Oh, that's a new EA game . If all else fails, shake the server out of them so we can cut our losses.IP: Logged |
