DOOP!! I forgot to upload the dang thing! yep, the Beuf has 4 20's in the nose. I just need details on the ammo count for the varios models (the Mk.I had drum fed 20's, while most of the later ones did not).IP: Logged |

Thanks, Nat. That is a darn good site and I beleive Elric had pointed me towards it to get me in the go. Right now I am thinking 'Signal Press'. His pictures and stats that he sent me, were awesome (the props was properly sized from them, plus the wing guns hopefully properly positioned), I just need something to fill in the holes. If anyone would like to 300m (unless I find a number stating otherwise) zero the Beuf's guns, go ahead. I can't pick out the red square in OPS to do it. Right now, they are in 'semi-strait' mode. Just taken the Beau out for a spin... very very nice handles great, I like the guns set how they are to be honest, they aint perfectly set to the centre right enough, but I think it looks prefect like that, Realy WW, leave them that way The only thing I'd do (if it's inkeepiing) is split the guns i.e. mg and cannon, right now they can't be split on the trigger. I think the model needs a slight touch up on the wings/aelerons, but I'm sure you know that. But to fly, I loved it, realy did.I got the Cargo ship, I'll take a look at the textures and if I sort out a better one I'll mail it direct to you. Oh, the Torpedo... I take it that it's used the same way as a bomb.. didn't seem to travel far anyway. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to set it to fly straight at about 10ft or less off the surface until it hits something, similar to a roket, but slower and without the trace smoke (you could possibly give it "smoke" that looks like wash behind the torp) Nayway, just an idea. to maybe clarify what I mean.. so on release it drops.. then at maybe 10ft the "engine" kicks in so it doesn't lose any more alt. and the "smoke" made to look like prop wash. I don't know if this is at all possible in SDOE, but ideas are the start of great things oh.... er.... have you got a bare skin of the cargo ship? LOL [This message has been edited by Nat (edited 03-15-2000).] IP: Logged |

I wonder if I can delay the rocket motor activation, if so, 10ft, 1ft, no problem . Never thought about that approach.... I do think that the smoke is part of the 'Rocket class definintion and might be hard coded. I'll poke around some more.I need to change the file references for the cargo ship texure file, also need to decrease the hatches' and mast obHits. The model took me about 45 minutes to make and port. I was thinking of doing Cargo2, heck, maybe I'll go for Cargo3 wooooooo.... ; ) Thanks, Nat! IP: Logged |

Hey WW, While I was perusing your site, I noticed that you say the cockpits in SDOE aren't 3d.... You may want to change that.... ;}IP: Logged |

Well I just tried it out there. I don't know where to put the torp so I haven't tried that yet.Ok I can fire cannon and mgs separately in the 5v5 but not the torp test. Takeing off seems way too easy. All you do is ram the throttle full forward and pull back on the stick from the start. That gets the a/c off the groung with ease. The wings bend and break off after pulling up hard in a 250mph dive. They seem to bend and break easily. The AI seems unable to take off in the 5v5. One strut breaks or something. And the prop turns pink and red. I think its cool the way you can look back into the fuselage but maybe thats not supposed to happen. You should have included extracting instructions for the torp. Other that that its really cool, I was wondering when someone was gonna make this. I was wrong about the .50's but the Aussies did have the them. Good work and where do you put the torpedo? The Australian built Mk.21 had four Browning .50's in the outer wings. On that website I think they have pics of a restoration of one taking place in England.IP: Logged |

As far as I know- the torp goes into Media/aircraft/weapons...with the texture going into Media/aircraft/weapons/textures. But the torp didn't show up in the torp mission...what did I do wrong, Whirl?IP: Logged |

Jeeves,Did you add the "./aircraft/weapons/torpedo.sm" to the startup.ppf file? I know about the purple props, and yes, you normally could look back and see most of the inside for the Beuf. When I get the pit done, you'll be able to look back and see the navigator's position, mounting a .303 for rear defence. I keep tweaking that pesky 88' gear, but shorly, it will be replaced with the fork gear the beuf really had. The third man in the flight has a tendency to veer left during taxiing, I haven't caught on as to why yet. As I said, it is still really beta. I guess I should make sure all the loadouts have the same weapons config. IP: Logged |

Just copy that line he had in his post and add it to the bottom. Whirl, I did add the line in, but no other line had that ./ before the word aircraft...should I add it in anyway? I'll try when I get home.IP: Logged |

Snake, doubleclick on the startup.ppf file and open it up, then go down to the bottom of the list and type in "aircraft/weapons/torpedo.sm" (with quotes just like the other lines above that). Then save the startup.ppf file and you should be all set.Jeeves, you can leave off the / in front of the aircraft like above.

Uh, yeah, what dauntless said . My memory isn't the greatest. I would have thrown in a startup.ppf file but it might step on some toes. All of this is in the Ordinance Faq available from the OPP website (I think it is down due to migration). My appologies for the hassel. IP: Logged |

OK so again- I have done all of that (putting the files in their appropriate place- media/aircraft/weapons...and adding the line to the startup.ppf) but still have no torpedoes in the torp. mission...I will have a look at the loadouts in the game to see if I can add them, but for now, there is no torpedo despite the proper placing and adding of things...does anyone else have it?IP: Logged |

Ok I have verything as you all said and I still don't have the torpedo. I have tried the Torp Test, adjusting the Torp Test and creating a torpedo mission. Whats next? SnakeOh yeah I have 3 media folders one inside the other. Whats up with that? The manc and V1 are in the 3rd one and all the standard and most others are in the second one and the early ones like the P-51b are in the 1st folder. IP: Logged |

I have had no problems with the Beau I d/l'd, the AI can take off fine, I have the torp bomb.. heh, The 6 .303 are correct, and WW Even got them set right (2 right 4 left wing)OK, maybe it is easy to take off in, but the, this has a nose wheel, so there's no tail hopping and dragging, I find the P38 easy to take off in aswell for the same reason. Had no problems with wings comming off so far, but I did notice that the damage needs touching up, I had a wing almost ripped off by a 109 (there was maybe a 2ft gap between wing and fuse) and could still fly around fairly happily. But I loved watching the engine get blown off when it finally got me I'm sure the WW will agree when I say that this is a beta, and we're here to help point out the bugs, but it's comming alone very nicely.. keep us posted on further updates WW IP: Logged |

Ok I'm really fed up of this now. I got the Ju-52 and all there is is a couple of .lods or what the hell evers. What are we supposed to do? Wish for it to turn into a plane?I think Whirlwind you are a great guy for making all this for everyone but please help the dumbasses out here who don't know their arse from their elbow(ME). I still can't get the torp working and if someone would just tell me how to do it in REALLY simple english I'd be happy. Thanks Snake IP: Logged |

Hi Snake. Let's try this again. I won't start from the very beginning. All I can say about unzipped files is to make sure that the files you want are going to the right folders in your directory. I usually open all the folders of something I download and then copy the files to the appropriate folder in my directory. Now, for the torpedo. Do you have a Weapons folder inside your Aircraft folder? (Media/Aircraft/Weapons) In the Weapons folder in your directory you should have (put)the Textures folder (with torpedo.tif in it), the torpedo.sm file and the loadout.ppf file that came in the torpedo download. They are in the Aircraft/Weapons folder in the downloaded file. The line that you change in the startup.ppf file points to the location of the torpedo.sm file which in this case is the Aircraft/Weapons/ folder. Hope this helps. dauntless851 [This message has been edited by dauntless851 (edited 03-16-2000).] IP: Logged |

Whew! I thought that the exclusion rule was in affect - it will work for everybody except the select few. I simply started all the files from the root map. A set of installation instructions might be a really, really good idea.Oh, the Ju52 is just a bunch of lods right now, hopefully MrBlob and Spanky the Mad Dog are working together to make it into something to shoot at . I have enough planes as it is. I have an idea that I email roadtoad. Basically I was going to start a 'Lost Boyds' section on my site for planes that I spend 3 hours on porting into SDOE, but still need a lot of work. It would be something for anyone who wants to have a go at a plane to start with, and something that possibly couldn't be screwed up any worse . Just an idea... BTW, the first ugly duckling would be a 'Boston/A-20' IP: Logged |
