Spanky here...

K guys i need help. I'm not a mission maker. In fact i suck at it. Can a couple of you guys get together to make some missions that flow into each other? say around 3-5 stages?

With an advantage for the side that wins in the next match.

That would mean you would need 2 missions after the first.

Kinda comlicated.

Plan on 8 players per side.

I think a team could do it in one evening and come up with some cool stuff. Don't break your back this first run will mostly be a test to see how it goes.

Ahhh... I see.
Though with time zone differences for some it won't be night but lunch time.

Spanky I was just thinking if no one wants to do the missions could we do something like using Jeeve's Dover missions. Modify them so we can have 8 vs 8, take out some of the ground units(so some of the slower pcs will not die a slow death) and maybe change the planes types too but keeping the victory conditions the same. This should not take long to modify the missions. These missions do flow into each other so that will be good. If we do fall back on this idea, the questions will be which missions of the Dover pack or any pack do we use and what plane types do we want to use. I'll help out with the missions if we do the modify "thing". This is the only way I can make a good mission, by using someone else's mission but changing the plane types, ect. to meet the need of what you're trying to do. Thanks for the people doing the missions because with out you I'd be mission-less! I also got 3 missions from an old SDOE tournament that might be good to modify just need to look at them again and make sure. Give me your thoughts on this.
Cheers.
Himdog out.

Spanky,

What kind of an advantage do you give to a winner?

If for example, the primary target is an airfield you could disable that airfield the next mission, or if they take out an oil refinery, do you reduce the opponents fuel?

------------

I would be happy to use my mission generator to create missions immediately based on the previous mission result. The delay for me between missions is about 2 minutes.

These would be missions that include bombers or primary targets for an incoming flight of fighters. The missions also identify friendly and enemy airfields by Klaxons (green friendly, red enemy)(although there is no way to penalize a player for landing at an enemy base).

There is a simple point system that tracks mission success and target destruction (based on objective) and awards points accordingly. Points are also tallied based on the plane and pilot deaths. Mission success is based on anyone receiving a win message or showing the primary target destroyed (hud must be on to get this message).

Each new mission includes a summary of the prior mission result including updated pilot and team stats in the briefing.

So at the end of a night I could report the total score achieved for each side and declare a "winner". So far in the games I 've hosted, neither side has ever gained a positive total (even with mission successes - this is usually due to the high attrition of pilots).

I would be happy to adjust certain settings to an agreed destruction level and remove objectives, if people feel they are too difficult to achieve.

Let me know if you're interested. If so, I would really like these events to occur using 1.5.1 simply because we can turn of the enemy on map setting. This really changes the aspect of the game for missions that have not been played before.

oh and the other reason for using 1.5.1 is the greatly greatly reduced desktop bug that so often occurs when sending missions.

Spanky, check out the TS Island Strike(10) mission on my site under downloads /SDOE.

It's a mission balanced for 5.3a.. we played it online the other night and it worked great. It's really long though the bombers take off and climb to bombing altitude behind coastal defenses, but all that climbing makes you really want your pilot to 'live' through the mission. Due to a bug in the 5.3a lanc humans must be flying the lancs.

Starting a mission within site of the enemy makes it dificult to "get into your role". I welcome missions like what Tail describes here. I find that in offline bomber missions, I often get time to develop some great adreneline levels (Hi, my name is esox and I'm an adrenaline addict). It gives you time to go over the mission objectives a few times in your mind and mentally prepare for battle.

This adds to the immersion IMHO.

All, great Ideas here thus far, excellent!

Writing missions is something I'm capable of
and have the time to do,and I'd love to contribute.

I'm still just a tad unsure exactly what were looking to do.

Are we looking for historical plane match-ups even if the one aircraft has aerial dogfighting advantage?

Should I play balance with shear numbers of aircraft per side or alt?

Or we wishing to start from the ground everytime?

Hows about an total Offensive vs Defensive campaign lasting over 3 frames? then reverse
for Allied/Axis?

I will work on some missions. It will start with all planes on the ground. But no assigned waypionts.

All the waypoints will be in the briefing. You will have to make notes on your target, (Targets will be assigned) waypoints, headings etc. before you fly the mission. There will be no AI in the Air.

So If you lose two people on your side you have two less planes in the air on the next mission.

This won't be ready this week.

is this possible?

very short range AA, that would destroy you on the runway, but only if your enemy.
just an idea.
