I thought about this while reading of Panzer's current condition. Aside from my desire to hear that he is okay, I was stunned to realize he was not only a player/modeler, but someone to whom we all owed a great deal of respect for his experience and service. Then I thought how many more persons on this board might I be erroneously assuming are just like me (30 something and no military background at all). So, I thought I'd ask... How many of you have actual experience in flight combat, and in what theaters/wars? My deepest respect to any who answer. I ask only so that we may honor you as we should. Salute IP: Logged |

Well I wasn't in any combat but I do have my Aircrew wings. I flew with the HS-3 Sea Air Rescue detatchment for one cruise on the U.S.S. Independence. Then I transfered to the Indy's GSE dept. and lead the Emergency Flightdeck Repair Team during night ops.IP: Logged |

I've neither been in actual combat. I was working for the Swedish Air Force Intelligence Center a few years back. Only thing I've shot down is a bird I happened to collide with in my glider :-)IP: Logged |

Artillery Signaller, we had the job of sitting about a mile behind our Observation posts, and on one radio recieve there signal, route it through the "brick" (encryption unit) then out through a second radio to the CP. Reason being, radios don't really work well out there, so the OP's who don't want to be found send on a very low wattage, then we boost the signal up for them back to the CP.IP: Logged |
