Is there a mission building FAQ?

Like how the agression, skill, morale, etc affect different units? What headings to put planes on to make them start at the different runways? How to place carriers/hangars etc?

have to say I've not seen anything like that, but it'd be pretty handy, especially the runway headings, you'll find at Woolwich for example, that unless you actually select the right runway, fully loaded bombers wont get off the ground, instaead the normaly hit the hill side in front. The only thing I've seen somewhere and I know works, is setting the skill and aggression on High for fighters means they are more likely to "gang up" on a single target, and work together to birng it down.. have to say, watching those Ki61's grouping together for a kill looks great! But shit it's scarey if your the pilot infront of them!!

Any idea how the sliders affect flak and AA?

What's an 'insane' flak gun do ?

HA...I can finally help the immortal Tailslide. I have the numbers for Africa.
Long ago I spent a night flying and taxiing around the map. It is a big help in mission planning and launching 2 squadrons from the same field. I'll list the field and then the runway from each end.

Beja 47 - 233 < bomber strip
90 - 270
189- 12

El Dejm 88 - 273
134 - 315

Kebili 73 - 252
127 - 308

Jadu 210 - 30

Tarhuna 95 - 275
134 - 315
29 - 204

Now for some reason I can't planes to take off from every heading (ie..one end of the strip works but the other doesn't) this could be a waypoints issue. I'm not sure though, I did play around with this pretty extensively. Hope it helps.

far as I've seen with the flack, the sliders change it from "Very fucking deadly" to "Very extremly fucking deadly"

For a no fly zone, group 4 Flak Panzers on a target. The flak is just TFD.

Lets jsut say in a mission I made recently this is how I set it up.

3 B17's flying at 24000ft! with two , (that is all)flak guns below...both on non agresive, no skill still manage to blow my 17's out of the sky AND cripple my fighter escort!

2 flak guns with all the settings on low can take out 6 B-17's with ease. If you're in those bombers you have to do some serious flying, and thats still no guarantee. AI planes usually don't have a chance in hell.

hmm,

FAQs for missions, I could use some of the info you asked for Tail, like the mission start headings. Pete had pictures of two of the terrains' airports with headings. I think it was Dover and Africa (making notes now thanks bullet), with Rhineland to follow (it never did). Jadu airfield will not let multiple planes take off it stacks the first two in a squadron for some reason.

Another thing that would be helpful is sky colour settings for the 1.5.1 version. (Morning, evening, night, etc). I would really like to know this.

I've run through pretty well every parameter in the editor and could probably put help something together.

As far as flak is concerned, I put skill on minimum, and aggressiveness higher. The B17 is a tough example though, it just can't take any hits, especially from flak but even from interceptors.
