Spanky here...

just letting you tnt2 and geforce users know that they are out and they are faster. Plus for the geforce you get anti alising and a huge speed increase. and texture compression.

Look though this review and see if you want to try them.

I don't have a tnt2 or geforce and it still sounds really cool.

Can someone post before and after screenshots that demonstrate the anti-aliasing?

Do the new drivers still make the overcast layer flicker?

SPanky here..

I don't know guys. I just wanted to keep ya posted. I don't own either of these cards.

Why not try them out if they give you a speed increase?

I've got the DDR Ge-Force with the NVidia ref drivers (3.68). The trouble with their drivers is that they can't be uninstalled. Every time I've DL and installed them I get a message telling me the uninstall files got corrupted. The NVidia drivers I got for the TNT2 were terrible but not half as terrible as the job of deleting them. It screwed my system and I finally had to reformat.
What I'm trying to say is this: If there is a problem with flickering graphics (clouds or whatever) I wouldn't want to keep the 5.08 drivers, but I don't want to reformat my HD again so I'm steering clear of them, much as I'd like to see what they do.

Repost from another thread

I tried the new drivers on my system with a TNT2Ultra and the result of FSAA are awesome in FS Beta1.51 in OpenGL.
Unfortuntly I suffered from the reported flickering of the screen. So up to now unplayable for me. But 640x480 looks like a much higher resolution and much better !!
I am looking forward to the official drivers. Btw. I couldnt see a big penalty on frame rates either as my frame rates are limited by the CPU anyway.

btw. how do you make screenshoots in OpenGL. It doesnt work like in D3D. SysReq didn't work.

Spanky here..

Hi man the normal way of making a screen shot is to use the Z key.

That SHOULD work but ya never know.

Concerning the Nvidia Det drivers, all the info I have seen gives them a 30% increase in speed. I have had a Creative Labs 3D Blaster TNT2 Ultra and now the Diamond Viper 770V TNT2 Ultra and could not get these drivers to work well on either , switching back to Diamonds set of drivers fixed the problem. The Nvidia drivers need for a complete unistall of the old drivers, and vice versa, without a utility is a great pain in the arse. I can highly rec this card though, great performance.

Ahhh... the new drivers only work with a TNT2 or GeForce - I only have a TNT1, that's why I was wanting to see some screenshots

"Z" you say? Hmmm... Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z ... nope that don't work

Remember that the 5.08 drivers are not only beta but are also not officially available to the public. They were leaked by an employee of a hardware developer.

In other words, use em at your own risk!

I did install them on my DDR GeForce and did notice a significant increase in FPS, but my FPS were quite good already so it didnt make much of a difference to me.

As to how did it affect the flashing clouds and jaggie cliffs, I noticed a slight improvement but nothing major, although I have to say I rarely ever see the flashing cloud problem to begin with.

you are right with the z key. Forgot that I remapped it with an old keymap file to Sysreq. But even with z, wich is actually
the print screen command in mz keymap file, it doesn't work. So no screenshots. I would like to see it too, but it doesnt work.
Btw. I agree with Stark. These are Pre Beta drivers, so if you use it, use it with care. For me it worked under d3d, but that doesnt mean it will work for anyone else.
