yep, been at it again, saw that Spanky fancied a winter cam for the i16, this one isn't anything true to the war.. but thought it'd be ok till I find some winter cam pics of it to get a better idea, it's posted in my skins section, just extract direct into the textures folder for the i16

I have some good plates of the I-16 in all sorts of camo: Spanish Civil War, Chinese, Eastern Front (green, 2 tone camo and winter) and a nice Finish eg. I will try and knock something up in the next few days.

Why does Snowy Dover always result in a CTD for me? Did I load it wrong?

If I'm not totally mistaken, the russian AF didn't paint red stars on the top of the wings. Only to the fuselage, rudder and the underside of the wings.

Well, if pictures in books mean anything, and sometimes they don't....

I have a picture of one with a star on the top of the wing.

Oh, and it's not a "cartoon" picture either.

Like this one!

As I understand it you can paint anything anywhere, you only had to use the correct colors.

I read from one source that most later model I-16s didn't use the upper wing star. Key words there are most and later models. That doesn't mean they didn't have them at all.

There's a museum in New Zealand that has around 6 I-16s I believe. Some have upper wing stars, some don't.

Some of the plastic I-16 models in the site that Laika801 linked to are the same way. Some have upper wing stars, some don't.

The choice is yours.
