Not on the game in general but on specific planes. Due to my odd hours I spend most of my time off line. Doing this I have noticed that the P-51b and the Apache are basically target drones, the He100 and the Ki-61 are viscious little bastards, and the Go-229 is a giant lawn dart. Does anyone know if this is just my setup, or the specs of the planes. Everything else flies great or at least like its supposed to.IP: Logged |

Hiya Bullet,In the mission editor(provided with the game) all AI aircraft belong to specific squadron for the said mission.By right clicking on the squadron (on the map) in the editor, you can pull up the AI's ability(per each individual mission). Skill, morale, loyality, sanity,& agression I believe are the 5 sliders you can set. Just save the mission and the AI will adjust to your liking. Good Luck Rattler IP: Logged |

In my limited use of the mission editor, I've found that the planes AI planes will generally only engage you if a) they see you, and b) their mission is CAP or c) you are their mission objective. I initially thought the AI didn't work on the Zero, but it was just that I hadn't given them a mission to kill me So if the mission just has them flying along waypoints with no "combat action" specified, I'm not sure they'll fight. Some of the other guys are a lot smarter on the mission building stuff than I tho...

An important thing to remember about the GO-229 is that it is not a fighter. I don't know if the AI knows that or not. I promise you, if you (or the AI) fly it like a fighter, it will indeed become a flying lawn dart. The GO-229 was a high speed high altitude (for then anyway) interceptor. Used properly, (against bombers at altitude) it can be very deadly. ------------------ Snickers =FC=

I wonder what would happen if you switch the AI to 'fighterbomber. The Mosquito has this, but I am not sure if there is a big difference between 'fighterbomber and 'fighter since 'fighter AI usually level bombs anyways. Are there any other AI types?IP: Logged |

I'm well versed in using the mission editor. I have to be cause I flew through the box missions a long time ago. What I'm saying is that even with all the settings on max. (aggression, skill, etc.) my Apache and P-51b still won't attack anything in CAP, no defensive manuvers either. They fly fine. Infact they are the only planes that rarely crash land at the end of their mission.IP: Logged |

I find that skill at max, agression down two clicks and sanity up two clicks makes for very tough opponents. Agression all the way up makes them too intent on turning with you. TS IP: Logged |

I know there are cases where the AI wont retract the landing gear if the plane has too much fuel (more that it was supposed to carry...) Could we be looking at the same type of thing?

The A36 and P-51B have their AI types set as 'bomber in the older versions. I think this was fixed about 4 months ago, but I could be wrong . The correct settings for the A36 should be 'fighterbomber and the settings for the P-51B obviously should be 'fighter. This needs fixed in OPS. Just load the plane into OPS, select the aircraft body, click on the 'Properties' tab along the bottom right window, and type in the appropriate setting over 'bomber.IP: Logged |

Ahh-haaaa, now that makes sense. Is this conversion hard to do? I don't mess with settings too much. So I'm kinda leary about messing with it. Also I'm one of those lame asses that still flys 5.2 (Yeah I know). Is this corrected in 5.3?IP: Logged |
