Too much money? I guess it's all a matter of perspective. The way I look at it, if I could afford either one of those aircraft, I'd have "just enough!" Heh-heh. Mk10=225th= IP: Logged |

I wouldn't be wirth it........... unless you need a paper weight Even if you did have enough money to buy it, you couldn't fly it.... Legaly anyways But I THINK that PBY is legal to own. ------------------ Cheers! Jaguar The FS Hangar IP: Logged |

They are legal to own and fly in the US. BUT... All weapon related hardware must be removed unless you have have one of a couple of different licenses. Importing would be an absolute nightmare. Fuel would be even worse. The PBY raises no question what so ever. It is legal to own, fly, land on any body of water that the FAA will let you land on. Mirthain=FC=IP: Logged |

There's a dealer of Mig 21's about 10 miles from where I live. He let me crawl all over a couple. Even sat in the cockpit of one. It's amazing how big they are.IP: Logged |

Spanky here... As cool as the Draken would be I think I would rather have the PBY As i could barly afford to fuel that puppy up for a flight. And I've always dreamed of owning a Flying boat like that. As big as my apartment is that would probly be a bigger and much nicer place. Anyone remember that show. Some sort of action type show from the early 80s that featured a guy with a small flying boat? IP: Logged |

It's probably worth to mention that the J-35 Draken (Dragon) is hideously difficult to fly. But it was a definitive record-breaker when it was in service. For those interested I can tell you that the first shot depicts aircraft from F10 in Ängelholm, southern part of Sweden, and the second shot shows a Draken from F21 i Luleå, waaaay up north.*Damn, I can't spell, thus it had to be edited :-)* [This message has been edited by Alexander (edited 03-06-2000).] IP: Logged |

Yeah Spank, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.Came out after the Indiana Jones movies starting gaining popularity. Had the pilot/hero, and the mandatory semi-alcoholic heavyset mechanic friend too. The name of the plane had "Goose" in it I think. But not "Spruce." Mk10=225th= IP: Logged |

From the picture it looks like a military OP. In which case the thing would haveto be stripped. THEN you would haveto get a Type Certificate THEN (out of your own money and time) Publish service bulletins for any problems the plane may have. It's a HECK of a lot of work to bring an uncertified military plane into the country. (Talking about Canada here, but since the company is in the U.S, I would assume they would have some sort of BAA with the exporting country). It would be cool to own that plane though =) Too bad you couldn't go supersonic in it unless over international waters

Getting fuel wouldnt be the problem...paying for it would! Then again, if you can afford one of these - you can afford the fuel too! And you can afford the army of lawyers to work out the import problems too!-Stark IP: Logged |

Yeah, and after all that someone would complain that it was too hard to take off or didn't stall realistically or didn't come with a campaign, and be pissed that a company would release it in that state. IP: Logged |
