I can't help but think that a few monts ago I was really TO'd at OpenPlane and didn't want to have anything else to do with it. What did bring me back was seeing how everybody was chipping in to support a new contest for plane creation. I was mad a OpenPlane, not at ya' all (for the most part
). Things are different, yet the same, and I still see individuals going the extra mile to help one another an others not taking offense at critiques and suggestions over possible problems and bugs in their stuff.
To sum it all up, damn, what a nice bunch of people, for the most part. For the most part, because some people go off yet at the remote sense of attack against SDOE, kind of like a few other boards I don't hang around too much anymore. Yes, I know it is crunch time for the contest, and someone wrote a disagreeable article about SDOE (it's been like that) so tempers are a bit high. I have never known anger to attract people, and I really don't think it will now. Just a thought.
Oh, a comment on the first paragraph, part of the reason I was really aggitated (and I still am) at OpenPlane is because there is no means to debug the dang thing. You never know whether a part of a plane will cause a CTD, a lockup, or simply not work as coded. I have DOF's that look like every other DOF on the same system on other planes, and they simply don't work, even after a rebuild. I have had AI problems (guns not autoengaging mostly), and several other niggling bugs that took weeks to track down. You can do a lot with OP, but after a month of trying to fix things without some feedback, it really wears on you. Even month long vacations don't help.
