Spanky here... I have heard no one talk about this and asked about it online and no one knew about it. Its a dogfight mission maker. Not really indepth but when you just want to fly online you just plug in what you want and hit go and it spits out a mission. Its insanely fast. Like 5 seconds from start up to shut down with a mission ready to send to everyone. pretty damn cool. pulled right off his page "This utility creates Dog Fight missions. In the mission you can choose your favorite plane or use default or random selected plane. Plane options, number of planes and Locality of fighting are always dynamically generated." Heres a pic heres the site http://mujweb.cz/zabava/tomua/

Sounds cool! What I really have missed is a mission creator that would make a few waypoints for each team so that the AI pilots would fight. I find it a pain in the butt to edit my existing missions to change the amounts and types of planes. Also, there should be a few more options, for example: -amount of planes on both sides -weather - start altitude for both teams (or checkbox for takeoff) Maybe we could email the creator, Tomya, and ask him to add some useful features to it? Lets figure out a resonable request and write him. IP: Logged |

a review with pros and cons. Something professional. If you don't have time to write for March issue, then it will be in the next one... :p------------------ P/O STef Editor http://stephan.bondier.free.fr/gazette.html

I've used the DMC a lot. It needs a readme to explain how to add new planes but once you've figured it out the plane selection is limitless. Occasionally it places the wrong plane into the mission but a simple change in the mission editor fixes that. With all the new planes coming out I would say this is a must utility if you want to pair up some unique combinations (Zero vs. ME 109 anyone?) or get the new planes into combat quick. You have to choose planes from different countries with DMC. If this can be tweaked I think a F4U vs. P-51 dogfight would be awesome once we get the Corsair's FM accurate. IP: Logged |

Wow, that could make doing campaigns a bit easier, add the planes, ect. I never knew it existed. Think about how easy it will be to do test missions...IP: Logged |

Spin made some kind of mission creator too.. it would automatically do the waypoints, place sirens, etc around the bases. An option to place the open hangars and planes on carriers would be cool too. TS

I've used DMC. I e-mailed the creator to see if he could add the Island terrain and maybe an option to add new terrains the same way planes are added. With the terrains it would be (TerrainName, TerrainID, Length, Width). Where can I get Spin's app?-=TheReaper=- IP: Logged |

Here you go rk:ADDING A NEW PLANE TO THE DYNAMIC MISSION CREATOR (DMC) Click on Edit Plane. Choose a Country Name the plane – this will be the name that will show in the DMC selection menu, like “Corsair”. ID the plane – this should be the name of the media/aircraft folder for the plane or the official par file name if there is no folder, like “f4u1” Enter maximum speed in km/h. DMC will automatically convert to mph in the next box. You can adjust speed accordingly but the maximum km/h DMC will allow is 950 (586 mph) Click Add Click OK To create a mission with your new plane go out of DMC and then reopen it. If you don’t it sometimes selects the wrong planes

Someone asked me if I would do a mission creator while I was online today. From what I can see of the screenshot it looks like it's been covered ok, what's missing? I haven't tried it yet but it looks good.

Spanky here.. Spyder. I think what we want is somthing with more depth. This program is esentialy just a dogfight mission creator. Great for making a mission with a coulp different terrains so you can fly online and everyone has the planes they like but thats about it. They want somthing that will give them some campain type thing. At least thats what I think they want. Kinda like the mission packs that people put out but somewhat made on the fly. Am I thinking right people?

I have the dogfight creator - it's a nice random quick mission generator. I made my mission creator 6 months ago and never released it. It was a little complicated and sometimes caused crashes (planes would spawn at the edge of mountains etc.) But it had some neat features: - Up to 16 planes
- Bombing missions or simple dogfights
- Random target selection
- Object placement - I even started to try to create a ground /naval attack version but I never finished it
- Primitive online scoring system - it worked but not 100% reliable (Everyone who played got their names in the brief - Aces were awarded to players with 5 or more kills in a row without a death). The problem was a host couldn't join other missions without screwing it up - or getting rid of the file that tracked multiplayer scores.
- Start from airfield or air (random)
- Squadrons were quasi-historically accurate
- Fuel levels were set to Hawker's way, it would have been cool to determine total mission distance and set fuel levels accordingly - but I didn't want to figure out how (measure distance in feet, get fuel consumption, and add a 15% overage - ok so somebody send me fuel consumption rates and I'll do it).
- It is possible to pick a squad or let it be random
- Weather, date, attacking side and terrain were either random or selectable.
- Loadouts were generally consistent with the mission nature but changed to utilize the different ones available.
- An online campaign mode was available that used the scoring system but didn't adjust resources or site damages.
If you guys want it I'll update it for the new planes, start using it again and send it to a couple of people to look at (please volunteer). I use it all the time now when I want to create a mission. It also didn't have a very good interface - I used Excel to set it up because I have no idea how to program in anything else. Despite the features above I always wanted to do the following:
- Create an offline campaign mode tracking mission successes, adjust resources and damages etc. - I started this but lost interest about the time Pete shut down his board - hmmm.
- Improve the interface - ie make it simple. Better yet get it out of Excel and into a real program (I think it's too complicated for a simple switch over - Spyder are you interested in looking at it?)
- Improve waypoint generation - sometimes they were just plane goofy
- It took too long to generate a mission (about 30 seconds)
- Improve the mission brief descriptions, they were a bit repetitive
- A couple of people complained about the way the missions worked / ctd (now and then) so I stopped using it online. If I could figure out why that would be nice. I now create a mission and open it in the editor, fix any goofy items (waypoints mostly) and then save it (the editor saves it as a properly formated text file - which usually fixes any bad mission problems).
The problem with it was that I generated way too many missions. If I bring it out of the dustballs, I would want people to have a close look at the multiplayer folder (ie get rid of all the missions you don't use - I dump them into another folder). You want less than 200 missions in there - you will suffer from fewer crashes if you drop the folder under 100 (the fewer the better). By the way on the multiplayer mission pack, I have stopped using it because I still get desktops - It needs to be smaller - so maybe I'll look at it again soon when new missions for the multitude of planes now available start showing up. Oops - sorry about my novel above - hope you enjoyed it. Spin IP: Logged |

Ahh good post Spin. I wasn't aware of your excel mission creator till I saw Tails comments about it. Tell me, how did you get the output of excel to write the mis file in the correct formatting? I never use excel or the like but I do have it. Actually I wouldn't mind a redesigned mission editor of the one we use now with simple things added such as being able to open from the fs folder straight away (mine starts in 'my documents') and maybe a key to center on the selected object/plane when zooming in and out. If I knew how to load in the map I would start a new one around that design. Still, I'll give the mission creator some thought.cheers ------------------ IP: Logged |

The excel file is a series of sheets for airplane, squadron, target, and other info that feeds into a sheet formated to be like a typical mission text file. I have a macro that dumps that sheet into a text file and gives it a mis extension.ta da new mission. IP: Logged |
