It wasn't easy but I managed to get the F4u-1 off the original Akagi. The key is full flaps, full power, let the tail lift, and slowly pull her off. In the pattern. On final approach at 100-110 knots, full flaps, 30%-40% power. Very shallow angle of attack, and plant it easy with brakes on and right rudder. Full up elevator helps after touchdown. Woa! That was close! It took me three times but it can be done. I love the plane. And it is deadly in the air. Good luck! ------------------ (Kill Or Be Killed) -=BAB=- Gunner

You aren't kiddin' on that last point- a short burst of those 6 point fifties' and I'm splitting Zeros in two, shooting both wings off and just leaving the fuselage, making lots of fires I love the convergance on those guns...and I hope you don't fix the convergence position jedi...I know it's a tad low- but I like it a lot- very easy to aim (I think that tab bit helps in deflection shooting some Now- in ground pounding- she is mercilous- rockets and bombs hit the mark off of her rails. We really need Japanese ground objects now! Maybe just a new skin for some of the present GO's would do. IP: Logged |

You guys must fly better than I do! I think I could get 'er off the deck, but I can't hold her on landing in a straight line long enough to keep her on after the "trap."BTW, if you have a couple of CV practice missions built (carrier takeoff and landing), how bout e-mailin' em my way? It'd make a nice inclusion in the zip file (appropriately credited, of course!) No plans here to change the gun convergence points--it took me a long time to get em there. I may change the gunsight itself tho. The one on there is the Mustang sight, and the British sight in the Spit looks a lot closer to what was in the Corsair. I'll keep the targeting reticle tho--it looks more "USA" than the crosshairs in the Spitfire. If I had a little better artistic talent, I'd make a "true" Corsair sight, but, can't have everything ------------------ --jedi--

Started carrier mission last night. It will take a couple of days though. I am picky about where the plane is placed on the deck (which is why I was interested in a wings up version....). Will send it when I am done. The Corsair is beatutiful. Taking off the carrier is a snap. Its also the only plane in SDOE other than the He162 that I can fly right on the edge of a stall (including through turns). This makes it easy to land as AIS is only about 80 when I cross the threshold. ------------------ Snickers =FC=
